When are you having Baby Shower?

All my fellow November Mommies out there

I know traditionally they say to have your shower 1-2 months prior to your due date... I'm due November 24th (Thanksgiving Day)... That would mean anytime between the end of September and end of October.

I'm an athletic trainer at a high school (I deal with all the athletic injuries) and fall sports season is VERY hectic for me.

My mom asked me when I might want to have my shower so here I am thinking about it. Would it be bad of me to have my shower some time in August (anywhere between 24 and 28 weeks along)?

I feel like I should be farther along for my shower, at least 30 weeks...

Thoughts?

I'll be around 33 weeks when I have mine. I dont see a problem with having it earlier unless they wanted to play some guess how many toilet paper squares it takes to fit around her big belly game lol

My first one will be Aug. 20. It may be a little early but our schedule for Fall is hectic already! DH's aunt called the other day and scheduled the family one for Sept. 17!

I am due the day before you, and I haven't thought about a baby shower at all. I have no idea who will be throwing me one, and no one has mentioned anything to me...

I think you should have it when it is convienient for you. If the fall is a hectic time for you, then who wants to be stressed even more about fitting in a baby shower to the mix?

Have it whenever it's right for you. I had one at my work and was trying so hard to get all the thank you notes out before I had DD (which happened a week later). I'd recommend having your shower earlier rather than later.

My best friends from high school (with the help of my mom's friends) are hosting a shower for me in Virginia on August 20th. I'll be 28 weeks at that point, but I feel good about that date because I don't want to fly too late into pregnancy. And then we'll have a shower in Texas sometime in September. I think it wouldn't hurt to have the shower earlier if it works better for your scheduled, especially because you never know what might happen. If you have your baby early, then you will be thankful that you had the shower first and have some items prepared for the baby.

Mine still aren't scheduled (I'll probably have 3) and the fact that they aren't scheduled is really stressing me out.

I'll be 34 weeks for the friends & family shower that the moms are throwing for us. I don't know when the work one will be.

My friend who is planning mine wants to do it in August because she will be busy with her wedding in Sept. I am totally ok with that, especially since I was on strict bedrest last pregnancy by that point! Go for it!

My "official" shower is September 17th. But I have one side of the family that only gets together once a year and we usually celebrate everyone's stuff that's going on at the same time, so I had a shower at 16 weeks. Smile

Even though it was super early I still had a great time. Do it whenever will be the best for you!

my due date is nov 27, so a few days after you. my shower will be roughly Oct 2nd (i believe is the date my sister picked).

If your schedule is that hectic i think a late Aug shower would be appropriate. if you family knows you, they obviously know you are busy during the beginning of the school year.

i think i'd opt for a late aug shower though. thats just my opinion.

I am having both of mine Labor Day weekend so I will be 30 weeks (Labor Day itself will be 31). It really is just whatever is best for you. My SIL just had one at 26 weeks because that's what worked out for her.

August 20th and I'll be 28 weeks then. Like you, once September starts it is too busy for my family and for myself. Do what works best for you!

I'm due Nov. 24th, Thanksgiving Day too! I love when people ask me when I'm due and I say, "Thanksgiving Day!"

I also work at school, but I'm a teacher and understand the issues with working around a school schedule for the shower dates. I'm also a HUGE college football fan and my husband and I have season tickets to our Alma Mater, so I had to work around that too. I gave my mom the dates of Saturday, October 1st and Saturday, October 8th. Hopefully, you can look at your schedule to see if you have anything big going on those weekends, if not, you could always opt for a Sunday shower. I hope that helps and best of luck to you!

My shower was going to be at the end of August, but my uncle sent out save the dates for my aunts surprise 40th birthday party for the same day. The only other date available is Sept. 11 so I'll be 32 weeks. I think your friends and family will completely understand since they are aware of your profession & schedule.

I will be 32 weeks for my shower scheduled for September 10th. I understand your hesitation about doing it between 24-28 weeks, but I say do whatever works best for your schedule. Your guests at your shower will understand that your fall schedule is always busy.

I think I will be having two, one from my side and one from DH's. I know one is planned for September 24th. I am due early Nov and will be attempting to finish a couple of grad school courses before baby so I will be super busy in October. I am hoping my inlaws plan the other one for beginning of September or August, I'm feeling rushed!

Well, mine is July 16th, so I think your August shower is fine! My sister had her shower at 25 weeks so who cares when you do it! No one seemed to care at her shower!
