psa: cleaning pump parts

I don't pump nearly as much as a lot of you ladies, but I saw that "cleaning pump parts" was listed as a few of your least fave chores. I saw on another board that you can just keep all your parts in a tupperware container in the fridge in between pumpings since BM is safe in the fridge. I just rinse mine off and throw them in the fridge and then throw them in the dishwasher at night with all the bottles. It's saved a lot of time!

Yup, me too. I EP & if I had to wash after every pumping, I would have lost my damn mind by now!

Thank you for posting this!! I rinse the parts everytime I use my pump, which is at least 7xs a day. I wash the parts completely ab 3 of those times. It's too much work.

  • Thank you for posting this! I don't pump all that much, but when I do it is usually a lot in one day. This is really good to know.

  • WOW, thank you so much for posting this, you just saved me a lot of time and energy. I pump every single day (sometimes twice) at work and I hateee doing it. Plus I never feel like the parts get that clean, so I end up putting them through the dishwasher every couple days, anyway.

  • I only pump twice a day and only at work but i do wash my parts everytime and i throw them through the dishwasher on the weekends and maybe once during the week. I actually don't really mind it. But i think my pump is easier to clean then others. Or at least that's what i hear. I really wanted the Madela but couldn't afford it so i got the cheapy Playtex but its actually done pretty well.

  • Thank You for posting this... I clean my pump parts after each pumping all day long.  I will definitely take your advice and rinse them & put them in the fridge and wash at the end of the day!
