Babies: 3 - 6 Months

How often does your 5 mo old get up at night?

My LO goes down at 8.. normally sleeps 4-5 hours, gets up to eat, goes back to sleep for another 3-4 hours and is up to eat again.

I'm hoping it changes.  Getting up 2-3 times a night sometimes is still exhausting

  • We're about one week away from five months, but C has sttn every night since seven weeks, knock on wood and fu to the four month wakeful so far. She has been going to bed around eight and sleeps until about six. Sometimes we will feed her then, and she might go back down for another hour or two. I hope you get relief soon!! Good luck!!!

  • DS is a few days over 5 months, and on a good night, he goes down at around 8:30, sleeps until about 3 am, then goes back down until 6 or 7 am. For the past couple nights, he has been extra clingy and has woken up more often (2-3x/night), but im blaming that on teething!Stick out tongue

  • We are 1 week away from 5 months and DS goes down about 7 and sleeps until about 5am, eats, then goes back to sleep until abut 7:30-8am. He's been doing this since about 7 weeks... good luck  :)

FF - not that it matters though??

  • We still dream feed somewhere between 11:30 and 12:30 depending on how late H has worked that night.  We put him to bed around 7 and he gets up at around 6 or 6:30, but that is with the dream feed.  He takes anywhere from 9 - 13 oz with this bottle so we aren't ready to give it up yet.  We are hoping that he will give it up when he starts eating protein.  RIght now he is way too hungry to give it up.

This exactly. Sometimes he goes to bed at 9-9:30 though. He gets up around 1-2am, then again at 4-5am and he's up for the day by 6-6:30.

  • DS is EBF and goes to bed between 8-830 and typically sleeps until 4:30 and then goes down again until 6:30-7:30.  He ahd started to sleep a little later, until about 5:30 but was staying up Indifferent for an hour or so, then going down for another hour or two.  Mama wasn't liking that.

Every few nights, he has a weird night where he is up at 2 or 3, but I hope that is just due to teething.  He doesn't really eat at that time, and still gets up at 4:30 no matter what.

DD slept through the night at 2 1/2 months and has been an excellent sleeper always... I guess it couldn't be that easy twice!

  • DD goes to bed at 7 or 7:30pm.  Usually sleeps straight to 6:15 or so, but a couple nights a week, she'll wake up randomly and a paci and mobile does the trick.  Maybe 1-2 times every 2 weeks, she wakes several times and I end up nursing her when it dawns on me that she's actually hungry.

DD goes down somewhere between 7-8:30, wakes up anywhere from 0-4ish times for a paci, and sometimes eats at 4. Sometimes she skips that and goes until 6-6:30.
"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind." - Kurt Vonnegut
  • My LO will wake 2 - 3 times at night. Sleeps for about 4-7 hours, up to nurse, down for 2 - 4 hours, up to nurse, then down for another hour possibly - but sometimes that nursing session/awake time could be up to an hour, which $uck$.

Like this: bed at 7:30, up at 2:30, up at 4, up at 6 and may sometimes go back to sleep.

  • Before he was teething, DS would go down at 7:30 and wake up 45 mins later, nurses and go back to sleep until around eleven, wake up, nurse and then sleep until between 5-6am. This past week though? He goes to sleep at 7:30, wakes up 45 mins later and is awake and screaming, vomiting, fussing, kicking, pinching, biting etc until anywhere from 9 until midnight. Then he sleeps in short stretches and wakes up to nurse (maybe every 60-90 mins) until 8 or 9... *sigh*

  • Elise STTN 95% of the time. I'd say she gets up once every week or two at about 3am to eat and then goes back to sleep. Otherwise she sleeps from 6:30-6:30.

DS is almost exactly like this except that he wakes up around 12am also and is usually back down in 10-20 minutes when he wakes. It's exhausting and nothing I'm doing is helping yet but I won't do CIO.

  • A is almost 5 months. He goes down late (11:30 these days...) and is up to eat around 7 or 7:30. He goes back down until he is up for the day around 10:30.

This was us without the teething ( but he was still waking.... And more often than not, he didn't settle I to sleepiness until after 11. This hasn't changed in 7 weeks.

  • Seems to be changing every day, BUT up until this past weekend he'd go down at 8:45, sleep until ~5, and then go back down for another 1-2 hrs.

But this weekend was terrible- up every 2-3 hrs crying, and ate twice at night.  I'm exhausted.

  • We're really lucky for the most part. DS hasn't eaten overnight since 3 months . He goes to bed around 9:30. Sometimes he doesn't wake up at all, other times he'll wake up once or twice briefly. We give him the paci, turn on the seahorse, and he usually will go back to sleep. He regularly gets up for the day around 7:30- 8 AM.

Last night was an odd one. He woke up at 5 and 7, then got up for the day at 9.
