Help me BOTB! (Hair style question)

In the near future, like this week, I'm going to get my hair cut. I want to get it cut pretty short so that's it's easy to take care of and less heavy than it is currently, but I don't want to look like Kate goselin or Justin Bieber. My hair is straight and ridiculously thick (actually, the hairs are really thin but I have a lot of them so they don't hold a style well, they wont stay in a braid or curl to save my soul). I'm hopeless when it comes to these kinds of things.
Help me BOTB, you're my only hope!

I still think that Posh spice cut from a couple years ago is pretty cute. Shorter, messier in the back, angled forward in the front. You can go asymmetric with it too.
I have the same kind of hair. It is a PITA. I'm hoping my stylist works a miracle when I go on Tuesday b/c I am so damn sick of drying mine straight (but the top is straight the underneath is curly).
Ditto. I had a very short angled bob a couple years ago and it was a PITA to get it looking nice every morning. Every single little flyaway or baby fuzz hair showed up quite a bit. It also cost me a lot more to maintain-- I had to get it cut every three to four weeks to keep it all even.
I loved the cut, but it was annoying.

What about something a little bit like Joan Jett's hair?
Unless that would look ridiculous with thick hair like mine...
I had a cut sort of like a stacked bob, but with a little edge. I loved it, but it did take a bit of maintenance. I also have a lot of very thin hair that doesn't keep style. With the short hair (below) I would use a straightener and use pomade. I don't wash it every day, so I only needed to touch it up some mornings.

I think your hair is too thick for this. I mean, they could definitely thin it, I just think you'd have to get it cut pretty often to maintain it.
I'm going to go look through your FB because you've had some awesome short cuts and I want to pick my favorite for you to revisit :P
I was thinking the same thing about the Joan Jett cut... And if you think one of the shorter cuts would work then please tell me which one!

It was a fun cut. I also had a shoulder length cut with some long layers that I liked. The problem I have, because I have a lot of hair, when it gets long it just hangs so heavy around my face. My hair is currently long but super layered to keep it textured.
I like the Joan Jett cut, but agree that it might be difficult with as much hair as you have. Hmmm.

I really like the cut with bangs and a tiny flip at the ends in "New Hairs." I think like OKD, you could do the bangs with an angled/slight wedge cut and it would look awesome. Something to consider - with a LO, you may still want to be able to put it up, so consider leaving it long enough to at least clip back.
My most favorite cut is how you had it for your wedding.
Like that? It was actually a short a-symetrical bob all grown out, I just had it trimmed, dyed and styled for the wedding.
I have hair like yours - fine strands, but lots of them, plus a little bit of wave to them.
I've had my hair cut much like the Posh pic above, though not as "messy" & I loved it. I'd blow-dry the front & run some pomade through the back & be done. I had my stylist do a lot of thinning, too.
The Joan Jett look probably wouldn't do well because if your hair is anything like mine, it's way too thick & would stick straight out
The best thing I've ever had done was get it straightened (I had had it permed previously). It was awesome for about 2-3 months, until the straightener wore off
I'm too cheap to get it done again.
That looks great on you! I think a side swept bang would add some edge/make it fresh!

Remember you used to have a link to your wedding pics in your siggy? Yeah, this hair is part of what made me instantly want to know you. I am forever falling hard for redheads. I can't help it, it's like heroin and crack mixed together and injected straight into my brain.
Well, maybe not exactly like that, since that sounds rather painful, but YKWIM.

: it's my deep dark secret. Though, I think the red looks 100% more natural on me than my natural color does.
Yeah, the blonde washes you out too much. You were meant to be a red head for sure. At the least, a strawberry blonde.
I'm not sure how short you're wanting, but I love this cut.
