I went to see that movie w/ my sister when it came out (she was deeply in love w/ Leo and saw it at least fifteen times in the theater.)
The chick behind me sobbed through the whole thing, and when the lights came up turned to her friend and said "Why did they have the boat sink, sniffle sniffle sniffle?"
It was then that I realized I needed to go to college out of state.
Re: s/o Titanic: A True Story
Oh, wow. That's sad.
My Titanic True Story - my boyfriend at the time was the one who wanted to see it, and he cried through most of it as well. Me, not so much. I fell asleep once the boat crashed.
oh wow.
My true story - I saw it 7 times in the theater and still remember most of the lines by heart (with prompting from the movie). Hey - I was only 12 and had a huge crush on Leo along with every other tween!
LCT - 5.15.14 ~ 9lbs, 22.5 inches
True story: I turn off the movie every time I watch it now, right after they hit the iceberg and everyone's like "PHEW! that was close!" because I cant deal with the sad parts when it's sinking. They make me cry to bad. I'm a total sissy.
Me too. True story.
I do this with The Wedding Planner.
Which is even more shameful as it never won an Oscar and, you know, stars JLo.
True story: I think the whole boat sinking scene is the best part of the flick. When the Irish mom was telling her kids a bedtime story while the water came into their cabin. The captain going into the control room and closing the door behind him. The violinist saying "It's been a privilege playing with you, gentlemen".
The whole thing is so epically sad, but so well done. I turn the channel after that part.

The Irish woman and the Old Couple. They get me EVERY. DAMN. TIME. Sobs, big ugly sobs.
That part, especially with the elderly couple laying in bed holding each other, is enough to have me out and out sobbing. I'm a puss. True story.
OMG THE OLD COUPLE! I forgot about them, and I just watched the damn scene not 2 hours ago (or whatever time it was on Lifetime today).

It came out when I was in 4TH GRADE haaa.. I saw it 4 times with my mom & whoever else.. My mom bought the movie soundtrack.. It was sooooo sad & I looooved Jack haha
Also just like the PPs The old ppl make me too, pretty sad
Whenever its on TV I wont watch it & I change the channel...
Now I feel really, really, really old. My DD was already 1 when this movie came out.
::snuggles AKA::
I totally could've baby sat for you. I had my baby-sitting merit badge in girl scouts by that time (Actually I'd worked really hard on it so my mom took me to see the movie to celebrate)
Yep, I'll join ya in the old camp. DS was TWO!
I love The Wedding Planner. And Matthew McConaughey...
I win. I was only 8
yeah, I was 15.
true story: I saw the movie so many times that I knew most of the lines.
Plus I had a signed, framed poster hanging in my bedroom,
Plus both soundtracks
Plus the commerative book talking about how they made the movie and I watched James Cameron on Oprah.
Plus I biked to Target when it came out on VHS, so I could get it on video before it sold out
Plus I went to an exhibit on the Titanic at the Science Museum later that year.
I was a little obsessed.....

My true story - I killed a man with a trident.
Oh wait...

I've been meaning to talk to you about that. You should find yourself a safe house or a relative close by because you're probably wanted for murder.
I still have a major crush on Leo. Major Major. Omg, in The Departed where he beefed up... mmmmmm.... he's on my list.
I hated it so much that I threw popcorn during the pathetic love scene.
My little sister went and saw it again and again. I asked her why and she told me that Dad said there were two versions and had she seen the version in which Leo lived. She completely didn't believe me when I told her that Dad was messing with her.

Oh, wow. Poor girl, I thought I was gullible in my youth, but that right there is epic.
I know I'm really late to this party, but a) now I'm all weepy too and b) Mr. J stays sad for like 3 weeks after he watches this move every. single. time.
I've nearly outlawed it in my house.
I was working at a movie theater when it came out. Let me just say I grew to hate that movie. We had it from December to April and I still remember its start times, noon 3:50 and 7:50. I remember our manager would go around telling girls that the ship sinks and some of them got upset that he spoiled it for them. I was hoping they were playing dumb but I don't think so.
I also remember when we got the Leo version of Romeo and Juliet and a guy I worked with was upset that they both commited suicide in the end.
I was in college. As soon as the video came out, it was pretty much a staple at the sorority house.
