Pregnant after 35

I don't want to leave the hospital

Sorry, but they treat you so well, the food is surprisingly good, I don't have to clean, cook or even take care of the baby if I wanted to rest.  SO is here with me, but I asked him if it was okay for the baby to stay in the nursery last night.  He has jaundice and is under the bilirubin light in our room and I have to keep checking him to see if the goggles are off his eyes and any little movement he makes I get up.  I just wanted one night sleep before we leave and he agreed.

Now that we're leaving tomorrow afternoon, I want tonight as well.  Embarrassed Tomorrow we go home and the real work begins.  He's really good and is breastfeeding like a champ, I'm just being selfish for two days then he can have me for the rest of his life. This is like a vacation for me.

Hope you momma's are enjoying your Sunday.

Re: I don't want to leave the hospital

  • LOL! I agree (except on the food part....my hospital here has horrid food!)--such a break! I remember reading on this board months ago that some hospitals allow you to nursery your baby, and others do not. I'd imagine you got the better deal! My hospital does use a nursery--thank god! Maybe it's just that I'm a well-practiced mommy...but I really like being able to have the nurses watch after the baby at least for one night (I also need the rest!)--plus DH goes home with the other girls, so it's typically just myself and new baby. Well enjoy the break and congrats again on your sweet boy!!

  • Enjoy it!!  I remember the feeling though - with my son I had a 20 month old and an abusive husband waiting for me at home.  My doctor was sensitive to that and said that I had a "fever" and kept me in for 2 additional days!!

Soak it up - and hopefully it's not as much work as you remember this time!  :)

  • Good food?! Not fair. I always get lousy food and NO rest. For some reason I can never sleep at the hospital. I usually beg my doctor to release me the next day.

  • I'm glad you're getting some rest before the big adventure really begins!

  • I remember thinking the exact same thing!!!  I LOVED the hospital.....the nurses were so wonderful.....I didn't have to do a thing, except try to nurse and sleep.

I also remember thinking the hospital was CRAZY for letting me leave with a baby.  I thought there should have  been some sort of exit test that showed that I could take care of this baby that I had just given birth to......they just let me walk out of there......I couldn't believe, I had NO idea what to do once I got home!!!!

  • Being in the hospital is literally the only time I have away from all of the kids at once.  I really enjoy it! lol
  • LaraLynneC big hugs. That must have been so stressful.

Pearly, I plan to take advantageof my hospital stay this time too as its the only holiday ill get for a long time. We need to be a bit more selfish. Once you get home its go go go.

  • I was exactly the opposite with Sarah - I asked to leave 24 hours after giving birth because I hate being in the hospital. It was so nice to be at home, sleep in my own bed and not be treated as if I was sick. I'll try to get back home as soon as possible with this one too.
