22wks and still not showing

well ladies I am 22wks today and I still am not showing I have only gained about 5lbs and thats it. I really dont feel the baby alot either. The Doctor said my placenta is in the front so it is buffing the baby movements. I just hate that I am buying stuff in the stores and people always ask me who is pregnant or say you dont look pregnant. I know I am over weight with a large frame but when does my bump come in. Anyone else going through the same thing?

Re: 22wks and still not showing

  • I will be 22 weeks tomorrow and some days I have a teeny tiny bump which strangers can notice. Other days, it seems as though my little bump deflates! Hope we both get a big bump growth spurt soon!

  • I don't feel that I'm showing all that much either. I know I don't have a definite, firm bump, its kinda low lying. I have only gained 2 lbs and my OB keeps telling me I probably won't "pop" until 30 weeks or so. I also just started really feeling my LO, I had a hard time determining it was actually her tho, but in the last week/2 weeks she's gotten more active. You're not alone!

I feel the same way, and also have an anterior placenta. Slowly but surely I'm getting my bump but it's still low and little. I know it'll come, but being patient is so hard! I'm feeling him more and more, even a couple from the outside.

  • I'm about to be 26 weeks and I still just look chunky in clothes. I just tell myself most people who get big bumps early are more than ready to not be pregnant anymore weeks before they're due. We have plenty of time to have nice big bellies. If you're doctor isn't worried you shouldn't be either.
  • It's your first baby. What you're describing is me to a T in my last pregnancy. I didn't show until almost my third trimester. Trust me, though... you WILL grow and when you go in to deliver, you'll feel like a house. In a good way, of course. :)

  • I'm almost 24 weeks and not really showing. I still sleep on my stomach all night, wear my regular clothes and really unless you're looking up close, couldn't tell I was pg.  I feel the baby all the time now though (started a few days ago only) and my midwife said not to worry because everyone shows at different rates. I'm very thin and was told from the beginning that I'll show much sooner because of that and it's just not the case.  We'll catch up eventually, trust me!
  • Thanks, I am just so happy I want the world to know. I am being a worry wart. But its good to know I am not along

  • Definitely not alone.

With my first I only started getting a little bump at 21 weeks.

Here is a pic so you can see!

  • I'm there with you :-) I'm 24w 1d. The only time I almost look pregnant is when I wear my tight tank tops. I haven't been able to fit into my pants for well over two months. I've gained about 18 lbs, all in my butt, boobs and thighs ;-) I started at 146, I'm now at out 164, and I'm about 5'6. I've been feeling the baby move for about good weeks, I also have and anterior placenta. I'm like you I want to world to know that I'm pregnant, this is my first baby, he was totally planned and we can't be more excited to be parents!! I just keep telling meself I'll be big enough soon enough and that the smaller I am the longer, the smaller I'll be in the end...right?

  • the baby finds places within you to hide.  (for lack of a better explanation)

My friend has a very long torso and  big hips and she said her baby seems to be settling in back there.  I have a short body and no hips so my baby has jutted out.

and I agree that as long as your doctor is happy, be happy.  I am terrified at being big now and then being even bigger later.

  • I am overweight and almost 26 weeks pregnant.  I have really popped out this month!!  Give it a month, and I think you will see a big difference.  I have only gained 2.5 pounds since my BFP.  I still wonder if some people realize I am pregnant, but more and more are starting to see it.

As for the movement, that, too, has progressed a lot this past month for me too.  The kicks have become stronger and more frequent!

  • You'll get there. I've really popped out recently, and now I get people telling me that I'm going to have a BIG baby. Ha ha! If you have a large frame, the baby has a lot of room to stretch out and you won't show as much. I'm very short so my baby doesn't have anywhere to go but out! Ha ha! You'll start feeling the baby a lot more here pretty soon too, I'm sure!

  • I think if we hadnt planned to have this baby I would be one of them women on the TLC show. I didnt think I was pregnant. Now I can see why it is a small amount of women that go the whole 9mo's without feeling any kicks, getting ms,or gaining weight.

  • I think I just look super chubby.  DH insists I look pg, but some of my friends have said they can barely tell and I haven't had a single stranger say anything to me about it.

  • Right there with you!   I am 23w0d and I just looked filled out.  I am 5'(9" and started at 128 and am 140 now, but I was underweight, so that is to be expected.  I am not wearing my normal clothes without the aid of a bella band but when I wake up in the morning and look at my stomach....almost a flat pancake.   I am still very thin, but just not showing.

I sleep on my stomach (don't shame me!) with no issues, but he kicks me like the world is going to end.  I started feeling his kicks weeks ago, and they are getting stronger so I know he is growing but he just must be moving up in my torso and not out.

My midwife just thinks that my thin, musclar build is keeping him....and she isn't worried.  I am extremely active and workout everyday.    I am sure it will catch up to me, but here is hoping to a baby bump and minimal skin stretching!
