Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Stroller on escalator

Yesterday, DH, DD, and I went to the opening of a new store in town. While I was standing near the bottom of the escalator, I saw a woman riding it down with a travel system stroller and her baby in the carseat in the stroller! To make matters worse, she got it stuck at the bottom. I just couldn't stop staring. Someone helped her and another person said to her "those aren't supposed to go on escalators". Parenting fail.

  • UGH! I get that it is quick and easy but I've seen strollers slide down, get stuck, or the parents are too focused on holding onto their purchases that they are not paying attention to the baby or holding onto the stoller.

I might attempt it if needed only if SO was in the front and I was in the back of the stroller but it just doesnt seem worth it.

  • DH took the stroller on an escalator at the airport. The line for the elevator was about a dozen strollers long. BUT I was wearing Mac in the carrier, so the stroller just had our bags in it.

  • I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and say she just didn't know and it was her first time doing it.  If it wasn't then she's lucky nothing happened, it's dangerous.

  • I do it all the time Big Smile Living in London, most of the tube stations don't have elevators, so the only way is taking the escalator. It works well if you know how to do it. Maybe she had the brake on?

  • I have done it.

But when I have either DD hasn't been in the stroller or somebody held one end while i was at the other.

I did go up once with out assistance, but for some reason going down scares me more so then up.

Honestly, I thought about it the other day  I had DS in the jogging stroller at the mall and thought that that type of stroller would be easy to get on/off, but I opted not to, just in case.
