''creative'' FET idea.... Would it work?

so I'm trying to pitch Dr Sassy something out of the box. Help me think it out, please. I want to do a ''natural'' FET, in a sense. No BCP, lupron, estrace. Do clomid to ''stim'' but not worry bout the egg/s, they'll stink anyways, just stim to get a lining and trigger to get the p4 going. No sex. Transfer two embies. PIO post. My linings were always decent on clomid, just not sure what dose I'd need for these tired oves. Is this idea nuts? Thoughts?

Re: ''creative'' FET idea.... Would it work?

  • Nope not nuts! This is what we did but we also did TI. Since I only had one blast RE suggested this to up my chances. It did work but all know how it ended. I was also on estrace since clomid thins my lining a bit. Good luck!

  • I say def not nuts at all.  I dont know exactly what clomid does....does it induce ovulation?  If so, then I dont know why it wouldnt be worth a shot atleast!

  • Do they ever use clomid's less evil twin for FET's? Just a thought, but what about femara instead of clomid to reduce the chance of lining thinning? Might not get the p4 you would with clomid since fewer follies would develop, but if you're doing PIO, it might not matter.
  • I just finished my "Natural FET" it was weird being so relaxed, no meds, 2 trips for monitoring. I think its a great idea to bring up, to try something new. (Forgive me bec i was a hardcore poster with C but have since become more of a lurker and prob dont have your full story) If you want any details of it, Id be happy to share. The only thing I was on was Doxycycline for a week, along with some sort of prednisone, night before transfer one plunger full of gel and endometrin (3x a day) and day of one 200 mg suppository.

Nope, not nuts IMO. I never had lining issues during fresh cycles but had tons of issues during FETs - it was like my body totally ignored estrace and/or vivelle. We actually used Follistim for our successful FET. We did a really low dose until my lining looked good, triggered, started progesterone supps a couple days post-trigger, then transferred 3d embryos (thawed and observed until d5) on 5dpo. It's definitely not a common protocol but definitely doable.

  • I wasn't given the option of a "natural" or unmedicated FET, but I know people who have done them, not sure if they use CC or not.  The only issue that I've heard is that the timing of the transfer is much more tricky.  GL!!!
