Anyone sold items to consignment shops?

I have a bedset and matching nursery decor that I want to sell, and I am trying to figure out if I would get more money from craigslist/ebay or a consignment shop? I know that consignment shops usually only give you about 1/3 of what they expect to get from selling the item(s)...

does anyone have any experience selling things to consignment shops?

  • I think you'll probably get more selling on Craigslist.

    I definitely do.

I sold a good amount of my son's clothes at consignment shops, and did okay, but wished I got more back.

I sold his old nursery bedding set and decor on Craigslist, and got much more back than what I would have received at the consignment shop.

  • I would say post it on Craigslist like PP. I have sold items at consignment stores and found that it was not worth my time. When I go through items for my SKs I decide to either take the items to Goodwill or sell them on Craigslist or hand them onto a someone close in need. The other option is if you have a church you attend they might have a classified board where you could post the items. There are a lot of items where you can get more than just 1/3 of the money. Good Luck!
  • craigslist it is! thanks!

  • I sell all the time at consignment...the store I use the policy is 50/50 if you're taking store credit 40/60 if you are taking cash.
