Success after IF

Anyone get tubes as an adult?

I have a ton of fluid in my ears, infections for a month.  I'm on my second dose of antibiotics and it's still hanging around.  I'm as deaf as a door knob because of so much fluid.

I was at the ENT again on Thursday and he mentioned tubes.  I had them a couple times as a child.  I've had ear problems my entire life.  Now I'm just looking for some relief from this pressure and pain.

What was your experience after you got them?  Did it help?  Did you get them in the office with just local?

Re: Anyone get tubes as an adult?

  • DH never had problems with his ear until a few years ago.  Every spring and fall he developed horrible ear infections.  We decided to see an ENT. There are a couple of different kinds of tubes.  Short term tubes called PE tubes (pressure equalizing) they fall out after several months and are the most common, and longer term tubes called T-tubes- need to be taken out.  Since you have had problems before, ask for longer term tubes.  It has been great!  He has not had any problems since.  Just had his yearly follow up appointment, and Dr said tube looked great and can stay in as long as it functions.
