Stuffed animals

Do you let you LO have a little snuggle buddy in the crib? I know you're not supposed to have anything really in there with them. But I'm working on getting her to find other things soothing besides my boob. So while I've rocked her to sleep I had her snuggle a little bunny and I'm thinking later when it's comforting to her and we try to get her to fall asleep on her own, it might help her to snuggle with it in the crib? But then of course I just have visions of it somehow getting stuck on top of her face. Do you or will you let a stuffed animal in the crib?

Re: Stuffed animals

  • I do not because C uses her hands and fingers to soothe herself. I have heard others say they got one of those tiny blanket stuffed animals that have a head and a blanket for a body. They wrapped pony tail holders tightly on several places to keep the blanket part from spreading out and covering baby's face. Sounded like a good idea.

  • When I attempted to wean Ty from the swaddle (which failed) I gave him one of those (the little animal with blanket attached). He never once put it over his face and we have the angel care monitor so I had piece of mind that everything was ok.

  • We have to use a cow for naps.  It has super long arms for DD to grab onto instead of her paci.  She DOES smother her face with it in order to get to sleep or else she's grabbing at her eyes for an hour and not napping.  That's the only reason that I've yet to give her a bedtime toy at all.

  • DD's lovey is a thermal blanket. she loves it on her cheek.

  • Nah, DS sucks his thumb- that's his baby!  I, too, am paranoid about the lovey covering his face....we're not quite there yet.

  • I put a receiving blanket in with her. I cover her legs with it, but she usually grabs it and holds on. She does chew on it (and thus, I have several of these blankets lol), but it's light enough where she wouldn't suffocate. I keep trying to introduce a lovey (I have the prettiest bunny one), but she seems to like the receiving blanket better so far. I wouldn't put a whole stuffed animal in there because it is thick enough that if she rolled over on it, I could see something happening.
