Ever made a diaper cake?

I want to make one for a shower I'm going to next month but don't have any idea where to start.  Any pointers?

    I've made a bunch.

    I use size 2 diapers, roll them up, secure them with a clear hair band. Then you bunch them into circles, and use rubber bands to secure those. Keep going till you have the size you want. Then cover the rubber bands with ribbon.....

    I made one a few weeks ago. I used 60newborn and 60 size 1 diapers. It was 3 layers, buttom one size 1 and top two size newborn. I did it all with rubber bands, just rolled the diapers and put a rubberband on it, then put a rubber band around a bunch of them to make the tier. Use ribbon once your done to cover up the rubber bands.

    This. Never made one myself, but when I took mine apart, I could tell it was made like this. However, she had used different sizes depending on the layer.

    Just an FYI, I'd not use newborn size.  Since they would be open they can't take them back if their baby is born too big for them.. like mine was.  We skipped newborn size diapers all together.

    We make diaper babies - much easier and not as many diapers to roll.  Also I found that the diapers we received in the cakes were annoying to use since they had been rolled or bunched in random ways.... I HATED taking all those rubber bands off and they were hard to store since they were all funky from the rubber bands. 

    To make a diaper baby you need about 1/2 pack of size 1 or 2 diapers.  basically make a round head, attach to a round body and introduce arms and legs.  You then purchase a really cute outfit and stuff the outfit to make the baby.  You then put a hat on the baby and a paci in it's mouth.  We got one with a paci with our daughter name on it.  The diaper baby was on very cute blanket too with toys around it.  Lay it on its tummy and you can play with the arms and legs to prob it up some, turn its head, etc..
