just had baby any advice???

I just had my boy on tuesday.  So far things are going good.  Any advice would be great though.  My DH is home until MOnday but after that I am really nervous.  How will I BF DS with dd around?  I am mostly nervous about the daily stuff -showering bathroom for me- making lunch?? how do you do these with a newborn and 18 month old.  also  I feel guilty not spennding as much time with dd - any advice.  thanks so much

  • Toddler proof the area, where you'll be spending most of your day.  That way when you are busy with the baby, your toddler can't hurt themselves (or is less likely to hurt themselves).  We use baby gates to keep DD1 in the living room.  We bought a large glider recliner, so I can read books to DD1 while nursing #2.  I shower when DD1 naps.  I usually work out in the morning, so I don't want to shower then anyway.  If DD2 is awake, I put her in the bouncer in the bathroom.  As far as making lunch for your oldest, toss her in the highchair and give her something she can eat right away, while you prepare the rest.  You can put the baby in a bouncer, swing, or Ergo.

  • I also had the swing near the family room and kitchen. If the baby got the slightest bit fussy, I'd swaddle, nurse and pop him in the swing. He slept there a lot during the daytime and it gave me peace that I could see both of them all the time.

Yep, you'll develop a system.  I nursed on the floor a lot so DD would have access.  And there's always Dora, if you really need a break!
