How doth one...

Explain to their husband that being pregnant can definitely cause you to be slightly unreasonable, especially when it has to do with your baby and/or your baby's nursery?

  • Best to show by action.  Explaining will get you nowhere.  :)

  • Break the storage unit so he has to buy something else!
  • Men are stupid! My husband and I got into the biggest argument when I started throwing around nursery ideas because he thought it did not sound like it would look very good. I was so offended because 1) I am an interior designer and know how to throw a room together, and 2) He is the man and cares nothing near as much as I do about this nesting stuff.
    I heart Ben!!

  • Ignore his ideas and just do whatever the hell you want.  He can't really complain if you come home with all the paint and start doing it yourself.

  • I'm always surprised when men have an opinion on this.  The only input I got was "no pink".  (We'll squeeze some in though)

Let me know what works b/c as of last night he was 'unsure' about decorating the room for someone he hasn't met yet!  I did just buy the crib and paint today, so we will have to see what he thinks when it is done!! :)

  • Off topic but any new news on your LO and his heart?
  • SO is letting me do whatever I want with the room. He doesn't care about registries, nurseries, etc.....he only cares about the actual baby. But I still show him different things here and there so that way I feel like he isn't completely out of the loop. LOL!

Really? I'm always kind of surprised when they don't. Although I grew up in a house where my dad was the one making most of the decor (painting, building things, etc). MH has picked out a lot of decorations in our house so it doesn't seem weird to me he has opinions on the baby's room.

My family and friends growing up were VERY blue collar and somewhat old-fashioned.  Men worked, women stayed home and kept the house and kids.  Decorating was "women's stuff".

Obviously, that's not how I live my life or the kind of guy I married.  But he is pretty hands off.  This is usually how it goes.

I go out, buy something, bring it home, decorate with it, all is good. But...  IF HE GOES WITH ME, he will have an opinion on EVERYTHING and we never get anything.  So it's best for us for him to just let it happen.  :)

This. All he said was, "I just don't want it to look like pink threw up in there." Which I agree with, so we're doing gray, yellow, and white with bits of pink. And I also read your other post about growing up in a very blue collar area/family, and I was the same way. We're a little more liberal than that in our house right now, but I still hold a lot to those values.

PP--I had my very first irrational pregnancy freakout this week. About the nursery. In which I told my husband he obviously did not care about me or the baby. I knew I was being crazy as the words were coming out of my mouth, but I couldn't stop!

Lol yeah that would drive me crazy! I am fortunate we have pretty identical taste, which also coordinate thing a lot of things I loved my parents owned but were more than willing to part with after decades of staring at them lol. It's hard to argue with free :).

Off topic but any new news on your LO and his heart?

We go back to Denver on July 12 to tell the cardiologist our final plan to do the series of surgeries called the Norwood. He is kicking like crazy, so I am assuming he is doing well in there. We will have another echocardiogram done when we go back to Denver to check on his little heart. Thanks for asking ;] I have found some wonderful groups of women for support and getting all the advice that I can :]

And @ Lopes... UGH! I think we are taking the d.a.m.n thing back anyways because its a pain in the A $ $ to put together. And just not worth the money if it is that STUPID! LOL. I wanted to kill him in Target hahah.
