BH contrax?

I don't know if I am having BH or not. It's an odd feeling. basically draw a line across my belly button and everything above that keeps tingling. It almost feels like when your foot just begins to fall asleep. Noting below the bellybutton is really going on except when I woke up this morning it was a little sore, like I had done a bunch of sit ups. It's feeling better now and the tingling hasn't really happened much at all today, it was mostly last night. I am supposed to call my doctor the moment I feel a contraction but this is not painful at all, just weird feeling. With Addyston I had painful contractions and that's not what I am feeling now. So, do you think maybe it's Braxton hicks? I do NOT want to go in to L&D unless it's necessary and in my head I just think if it were real contractions I would be in pain, right?

Re: BH contrax?

  • BH are not painful... But you feel tightening... Its like your belly gets really hard for a few seconds to a minute, then relaxes. Not exactly the same as the "tingling" your describing. Baby might be having a growth spurt and just might be stretching...

  • I get BH relatively early in my pregnancy (started at like 16 weeks with DS and about 11/12 weeks this time). For me they start off feeling like the baby is pushing its butt out from the inside against my belly if that makes any sense-- it gets firm and feels strange but definitely not painful. When I had them with Nicholas I just thought it was the baby moving until I realized that it was consistent and lasting about 30 seconds each time it happened and the baby was definitely not big enough yet to be giving me that sensation just by moving. As I get further along its a more noticeable and wide spread tightening and hardening but still not painful, just uncomfortable if I have them a bunch in a row. I've definitely never felt a tingling sensation but I agree w/ Tracy that maybe it is just your muscles moving and stretching.

  • I brought up the tingling to my dr on Thursday because it had happened a few times and he said it was probably the abdominal muscles too, but since then it's been a little more frequent so that's what made me just think that maybe it was BH. hmm I guess it's just another one of those things I may never really know! Thanks ladies.
