3rd Trimester

mom's on their 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc...

ds#1 was 10 days early, on his own. water broke, went in to labor, had him 11 hours later. i asked my doc if there's any correlation between if you'll go early/late again depending on what happened with your first pregnancy and he said there's a good chance it'll be similiar. i've been looking online, but can't seem to find much info on it. has anyone's docs told them something along the same lines? i'm obviously not banking on one thing or another happening, just curious to know how true this is, and if ds#2 might be arriving a bit early too.

  • I was told one pregnancy has nothing to do with the next.   My friend has 5 kids and it was all over the board in terms of timing, delivery, and recovery.

  • My MW said the same. We were talking about DD waiting until 41w and she said she would expect the same, as it tends to follow patterns. Who knows?!

  • Both of my kids have come early.  The first was 37wk5d and the second was 38wk1d.  I have a strong feeling that this one will come early as well.

  • My 1st  was 1 wk late.... my 2nd was 42 wks and 1 day they had to get him out . he just was not ready to come into this world... my 3rd was right on time . mirecle... this one , im crossing my fingers she is on time. all my children were all differnt in the arrival dates...
  • My first came 1 day before her due date and my second came 1 week before her due date.  I'd like to think this one will not go past 40 weeks, but I'm not "planning" on it because I don't want to be upset if that happens.  I didn't ask my dr about it though.

  • DS1 came four days after his due date. DS2 came on his due date. I'm thinking DS3 will come either on or a day after his due date.

  • DS came 6 days late but it was on his original due date so he was kinda on time. Anyway, my doctor said things tend to go quicker with your second one but I'm not sure if she was referring to actually going into labor or once labor starts things move quicker. Sorry, I'm not much help but I'm hoping not to go too much overdue....I don't think you ever really know though!
  • My previous OB said he thought they typically followed a pattern.. That you would have each one around the same time each time..my first one was 1 day late, my 2nd one was 3 days late, so around the same time each time..

  • My ob says that pregnancies can be similar to each other. He also says that it can be like mother, like daughter too.  So if your mom delivered her kids early/late, you could be the same way.

  • Both my kids were exactly 7 days overdue .. I actually went into labour at the exact same time with both. Although my second labour was MUCH shorter.

  • I can't really help because my first two pregnancies were so different.  DS #1 came one week late via induction and DS #2 came on his own one week early!

  • My OB said even though every pregnancy is different, in her practice she sees alot of 2nd+ pregnancies run fairly close to how the first went.

My first DD came at 37 weeks on her own. Just like you had said, my water broke and everything went quick! (From first contraction to delivery was 9 hrs but I only had 3 hrs of pain - the rest was mild period cramps).

Due to this history with my first - my OB said i'll probably delivery early and fairly quickly. I am excited to see how it plays out! (Though I do have early signs of Pre E so if my bp doesn't stay level we'll have to be induced early)

  • my mom has 5 kids. We ranged from 6 weeks early to 1 week late.

I am the oldest and was almost 6 weeks early, the next was 1 week late, then pretty much on her due date, then 2 weeks early and then again pretty much right on time.

  • My first came 2 days early, but that was a scheduled c/s, so who knows when she would have come on her own.  Second was a month early due to excess amniotic fluid.  I am having amniotic fluid issues with this one too.  I asked the Dr. what the chances of going that early again and she said "Every pregnancy is different."

They scheduled my c/s for 39 weeks, but at my last appointment she said, "Let's just hope you make it to 37".

  • My first came at 37 weeks exactly and here I am 40 weeks with my second and still pregnant.  Good Luck.  Doctors told me I would have this one early too.  In fact, 3 weeks ago they told me he would be here within 24 hours.
  • My first was a c/s at 39 weeks. Ds#2 was a vbac at 41 weeks (castle oil)... I was hoping this one wouldn't be a week late as well, the cnn said she could come earlier but I've learned not yo put too much stock into predictions, it just makes ya crazy. I actually wouldn't mid going to term.since I return back to work(teaching) Aug 12th.
  • I wouldn't plan on it.  Each pregnancy is different, and the baby will come when the baby is ready.  For me, DD#1 was three days late, and DD#2 was a week early.  There's no telling when this baby will come.

i'm not planning on anything, that wasn't the question. just wondered what other people's experiences have been, and what their docs have told them.
