maternity clothes recommendations for the 'larger' woman

i'm usually a 14-16 ...

last pg, i wore mostly old navy pants, and they sucked for me ... always falling down, and they didn't look good either.

my plan is to buy a few 'higher' quality pants/jeans to get me thru ... any recommendations for specific brands that will fit the fat, pg, middle aged woman????

TIA

Re: maternity clothes recommendations for the 'larger' woman

  • I am also a 14-16, I have had good luck with Motherhood Maternity, JC Penney, and Kohl's. I found some nice work pants and capris at Motherhood and tops at all places.  I never found anything at Old Navy that worked for me either.

  • I can somewhat relate. I wear a size 10 normally. But when prego....it's not just my belly that expands (how do those women do that...where they just get a bump and nothing else)??? I get big EVERYWHERE....and am usually in the largest maternity clothes by the end. So, that being said....I recommend trying things on. I like Motherhood Mat, but only if you can get to a store. Their XL is pretty good, but SOME of their items run VERY small (however, M.Mat has a selection of "plus size" that is pretty cute). Kohl's is a good bet for price, but selection there is limited. Pea in a Pod is more expensive, but truer to size (and you can find their stuff at Macy's on sale ALL THE TIME)! I have shopped on ebay too! If you know what brands fit, go there. Cheaper and usually ebay sellers are good about descriptions. I'd stay away from Mimi Maternity (too small). AND....Target actually. Good prices and affordable. Again...try em on! I hope this helps? GOOD LUCK!

  • i was at a 12-14 when i got pg...then my entire body started to swell.  pants/shorts are a no go...i have been wearing sundresses from target, old navy, & kohls.  shirts from target have been good so far but as my belly grows i'm finding they are not quite long enough.  have a maternity t-shirt from jcpenney that covers my tummy much better.

  • This is exactly how I feel. I haven't gone maternity clothes shopping yet and am dreading it. I am a size 16, 35 years old and pregnant. I do not want to look like a rock star, nor do I want to look 70! No advice, but sympathy!
