Ordered off Etsy and am so disappointed

I ordered Jack's birthday hat off Etsy and it came today. I was so excited to receive it, and then I opened the box.

It's poorly sewn, way to small looks like it was made for a dog not a baby, and the elastic is so long it doesn't keep the hat on. I paid more then I wanted for it, and we are on a tight budget. Even if I could order another one I don't think I would be able to get it in time.

It's such a silly thing but I am so upset. Can anyone suggest somewhere to get affordable birthday hats for boys?

    I'm so sorry :( what a bummer. They aren't personalized and I'm not sure they would be your style, but babydarling on etsy has great birthday party hats that are really cute. Good luck!

    You could do what I did...and you can make it to match his shirt.

    Go to the Dollar store or walmart or wherever and buy paper birthday hats, doesn't matter what they look like since you will be covering the design up.  Then go to the scrapbook paper section and look for scrapbook paper that matches his birthday shirt.  If you walmart craft section sucks, try Michaels.

    Open up one of the paper hats (undo the staples) and use that as a template.  Cut this shape out of your scrapbook paper.  Then use your stapler to attach this to one of the hats that you didn't cut open.  You are basically making a cover for the hat....Then cut out a fabulous number one out of a contrasting paper.  Glue it on.

    Voila!  It will fit.  It's super cheap...make a few...then if he wrecks a couple you won't care.

    You could copy the design on his shirt completely if you wanted to.

    You can do it!!!

    I would send it back and ask for a refund. I dont know what Etsysnpolicy is On these things but I am sure that must do something for work that isn't up to par..

    I don't have any pictures of what I did for Reed's first on this laptop...but they were seriously the easiest DIY ever and super cute!

    I love the suggestion of making your own so if time is an issue you might want to do that.  However you really should contact the seller.  You can give feedback about poor quality etc on there and most sellers really want to avoid negative feedback and will offer a refund if you contact with your issues.  I ordered almost everything for my nursery off etsy and the curtains were going to be 2 weeks late.  Not a big deal but the seller offered to refund half the purchase price and I think it was just because she has such positive feedback and didn't want me to change that!

    Oh and you could also cover the hat with fabric if you wanted to.  Same way as paper just with fabric glue instead.
