I met with my attorney yesterday. We went through everything and hammered out the separation agreement. H came and signed it, grabbed lunch and went back to work while I sobbed the majority of the afternoon. He signed a waiver to appear in court so he won't even have to go. In my state you have a 60 day waiting period so I should have a court date sometime after that.
He didn't argue anything - cars, parenting time, holidays, etc. It's like he doesn't even care. And it kills me. We are putting our house on the market and I am getting a new car so I have a lot to do still.
I did have one question about getting child support started. Do I just call the child support office? I emailed my attorney that question today but he was out all day.
Re: Separation agreement signed
Thanks, my attorney did this too and attached the paper with the others. I just didn't know if I had to do anything to get it started. He said we could go through the state or just have ex write me a check every week. He recommended going through the state so that's what I'll do.
Nope, that paper should do it all. I am going through the state from the get go as well. Here the person paying CS sends it directly to the state and the person receiving it has a debit like card that any money received by the state for CS goes on. Also that way, I think it will be easier to separate CS and visitation (no asking/exchanging of money during visits) just like the state wants anyway.
