1-question RAMEN poll ...

How do you prepare your ramen? Oh, and what is your favorite flavor? (I guess that is two questions. Oh well.)

I don't think I do it the "normal" way, in that I cook it, drain all the water, then add seasoning and then new water. Most of my friends in college made it with the water it cooked in. If I am being really random, sometimes I put a little shredded cheese on top.

I rarely buy ramen because I will EAT IT. But when I do, I get chicken. Regular chicken. None of that creamy chicken (pleh) crap they once sold.

  • I cook and eat it in the same water, only chicken flavor, and I dont like the noodles to be super soft.   Sometimes I will throw an egg in there and that is pretty yummy!

Creamy chicken is pretty much the most disgusting thing ever!

  • Chicken or oriental. Use the same water but I dOnt use as much as it says. I like it to not be very brothy. And I add Parmesan cheese to make it thicker.

This is me as well. Like Lynchie I sometimes crack an egg. Somtimes I make vegetable soup and put ramen noodles in it.

  • Chicken flavor only.

    I prepare two ways...

    1. In the microwave, with just water and then stir in the seasoning afterwards.

    2. Boil, drain and then add the seasoning.

    I like the seasoning strong.

    Sometimes I like it soupy.

  • I franking love Ramen.

I cook, drain a bit, then add the seasoning.  I used to like it super strong, but prefer to keep a bit more broth in these days.  Sometimes I'll add cheese on top - sliced, not shredded.

    I like oriental, beef, chicken.

  • I cook/eat it in the same water.  I think the starchy-ness of the noodles helps give the broth some oomph.

But, I only eat Asian ramen, not the cup o' noodle stuff.  My favorite kind is Shin Ramyun in the red/black packaging, with an egg cracked in at the end.  Spicy and yum!  :)

  • Mmmm.... Ramen!

I cook the chunk of noodles whole for 3 mins. Then use maybe half a cup of the water in the bowl. Plus a couple squirts of Tapatio and a couple squirts of lemon juice. Delish! I think Oriental is my fave.

ETA: I use most of the seasoning packet too.

  • I haven't had Ramen since college... Really, people eat that when they can afford not to, and when not hiking?

I think I just followed the instructions, or altered them to be as few steps as possible.  :)

I really only ate it when I was pregnant with Cooper.  It just sounded perfect then.

I actually never ate it in college by necessity; I ate it occasionally as a treat because I liked it as a kid. I have never eaten ramen because I couldn't afford other food. And it was fabulous while I was pregnant. The salt helped stave off my nausea.

  • Broken into quarters, boiled and mostly drained, served w/o the seasoning packet, but with steamed vegetables and some soy/teriyaki sauce.  In the past i've had it w/ (part of) the seasoning packet and cheese.

Same here!  I try to not use all of the seasoning packet because it has about 3 days' worth of sodium intake in it, but sometimes it just all slips in.

Zista: I know the stuff is terrible for you, but it's just so darn delicious!  Maybe I'll go see if Whole Paycheck sells some organic stuff with whole wheat noodles and that will make you change your mind. ;)

  • I haven't had ramen since I was a a young teenager...unless you count Cup O noodles....then I don't care which flavor and I add the water and microwave. LOL
