DH and I are going to visit some friends tomorrow that just had their baby boy two weeks ago. Of course we want to bring something as a gift. In the past I would always buy a cute little outfit or a stuffed animal or something, but now that my little one is almost here, I do not need ANY more clothes as I already have soooooo many and I know they'll grow out of them so fast.?
So, what was the BEST gift you received after the baby was born. Something that you actually found useful, something you actually needed, and something you did not roll your eyes at thinking "oh no, not another one of these!"
??
Re: POLL: best gift you got AFTER baby
Good question. I would have to go with my sound machine but they may have one. The thing was a LIFE saver. So, a combo gift of The Happiest Baby on the Block and a soundmachine or Womb Bear is a good idea.
Sam said it, too, food is nice. MrsLeanna brought over a yummy lasagna when Sophie was about a week old that came in handy for days! I was nursing so the last thing I wanted to do when I had a break during those first few weeks was cook - lunch or dinner.
Diapers, wipes, desitin, etc.
You could always try and find out if they are missing anything like socks or blankets or sheets for the bassinett. Sometimes you do not realize you are missing something or don't have enough of something until the baby arrives.
Oh.....and a PRETTY pajama for the mom is not a bad idea. I hated putting on my maternity clothes after having the baby. I got some cute pjs after she was born that made me feel so much less frumpy while at home.
HTH!
When mario was born everyone brought food & drinks over whenever they came over which worked out really well beacuse we had so many visitors that we ended up needing to feed them so the food brought over surely took the load off of us (paper plates & cups)...I agree food or a certificate for food to go after mommy feels up to it...we ran out of wipes quickly when nicolas was born, I forgot how fast they go through them in the beginning...and of course diapars, like swaddlers size one or two so that when baby grows out of the ones they have on hand they will have them on hand already....hth
I'd want diapers and wipes!
I think the dinner idea was a REALLY good one too!
Food!!! I had a neighbor who surprised us and brought over a meal and it was the biggest blessing.
Also - this is only if you are close... if she is breastfeeding, I found these to be a lifesaver. https://tinyurl.com/5rt6ez They're from Gerber and are warm/cool packs that fit in your bra and help with many breastfeeding issues.
Definitely diapers and wipes. I love the food idea - I wish somone brought me a lasagna dish....I LOVE lasagna. Maybe like Melly suggested - PJs and some smell good stuff.
