Mercy Hospital?

Hi I was wondering if anyone has delievered at mercy and what their experience was like. My insurance was switched to UPMC and my original doctor delievered at St. Clair but I had to find a new doctor that delievered at a UPMC affiliated hospital. The doctor I chose delievers at mercy and I havent been to see it yet.

Re: Mercy Hospital?

  • I am acutally wondering the exact same thing.  I really like my doctor and she only goes to Mercy as well.  I hope some ladies respond to this post!!

  • I had a GREAT experience at Mercy!!!!   I had a somewhat troublesome pregnancy and everyone was very nice during our multiple visits.  It was our 1st child and we were scared but things worked out wonderfully.  We had nurse Tammy for the 1st half of my delivery, she was a God sent.  We ended up at the hospital for 3 days after my C-section and I have no complaints at all.  Mercy will be my 1st pick for the next baby in a few years.
  • Did they allow rooming in at Mercy? I just read some hospitals don't allow it and I gave birth to my other two girls at Magee.

  • It's better than West Penn, that's for sure!!    This year, Magee got #1 (of course!  luv that hospital!), Shadyside got #2, Mercy #3 and West Penn #4.

  • I just seen that you had questioned mercy hospital. I had my son there last August and it was the best experience I could expect for having a baby. He is my first and only, but the nurses were sooo super helpful and nice. anything I wanted they got for me. My mom and grandpap were in the delivery room the whole time, well until I started pushing then I booted pap out. Being this was my first, it was really nice to have nurses that could explain everything every step of the way. The best part about them was that they were real, they werent the type to just tell you no it wont hurt you will be ok, but they will literally hold your hand all the way through delivery. Then afterward I was given a double room, which had my bed a pull out couch and a pull out chair for guests and visitors. They provided a courtesy dinner for my fiance and I with wine glasses and grape juice on little silver plates. It was a really nice jesture. I really enjoyed my experience at Mercy. Also they offer tours, which I highly recommend that way you can see the labor and delivery suites as well as the rooms you would stay in after delivery. Also the nursery is in the middle of the floor. So no matter which room you stay in your baby will always be right outside your door! Good luck with everything and I hope you enjoy Mercy as much as I did!  Smile
  • Thanks everyone! I was really thinking of switching to a doctor that delivered at magee because I heard some bad stories about mercy and this helps me out alot!
  • I had my daughter there on April 8. I had a wonderful experience. The nurses and doctors were so nice and helpful. What doctor are you seeing?
