Milk-Allergic Kids: Reactions to Tdap Vaccine Lots

I subscribe to a few vax news sites bc my DS had a severe reaction last year. This article popped up in my feed today and I thought I'd share it. It makes me sick these kids suffer a reaction bc of an undisclosed allergen :(https://www.pediatricnews.com/article/PIIS0031398X11701473/fulltext

  • for some reason I can't get to the link- the screen won't scroll down to it in your post.  Could you post it again?  also- what age is Tdap usually given?  We've delayed/spread out all of the shots so far but we're up for MMR and chicken pox next month.  Both have trace amounts of egg and we have our allegist blessing to give them and will be in the pedi's office for a while after for observation...but I'm terrified it's going to go wrong.

could you maybe do one at a time?  that way if there is a reaction you'd know what your dc was reacting to?  I know that was THE hardest part for us in the beginning, not knowing what he was reacting to or how to deal with it.  Long, tough road for sure.

Thanks!  We might delay the chicken pox until this fall.  Our pedi wants him to have it before he starts pre-school and other than that it's up to us (I'd prefer him to have it before next cold/flu season because I'm not sure I could handle a pox outbreak on top of our RSV/pnemonia/asthma worries).  I need to do some more homework before our visit in 2 weeks.  He did ok with the flu shot.  It was given at the allergist's office over a 4 hour period with no reaction and the MMR and pox vac. has less egg than the flu shot so we should be ok.....nothing like one more thing to worry about :(

Since vaccines are either killed or weakened forms of the disease it needs to be grown in the lab and the animal products are used as a growth medium to produce the needed cells.
