Cincinnati Babies

Indianapolis Children's Museum

I'm looking for tips... we're taking B in the near future, and if there's anything you think would be helpful, I'd appreciate hearing it!

- Should we eat lunch in their food court or eat before we arrive?

- Are there "must see" exhibits since there is so much to do?  If it helps, he absolutely LOVES the ball zone at Cincinnati's Children's Museum.  We have a limited amount of time (need to leave by 3 ish)

- Anywhere I can get discount tickets?

Thanks!

Re: Indianapolis Children's Museum

  • There might be reciprocity if you have a Cincy Museum or Zoo pass?  This is something I was getting ready to check into...

Indy has no reciprocity.  I already checked.
  • It has a good cafe, but if you want to save $ BYO or eat ahead of time.

  • I love the Indy children's museum! Start in the basement. There is a full size train, you can climb in the caboose, and an electric train display. There was also an awesome art display, though I'm not sure if it's still there. There is also a theatre, so you can check showtimes first thing. I would then head to the top floor for the carousel and work your way down. Have fun!
  • We've gone several times and the kids love it. If you have a triple A membership you get a discount, maybe 10%.  Isabelle has always been well behaved and would listen to us and stay near us but Oliver is completely different.  After being in the car for almost 2 hours he just wanted to run around the museum so I vow the next time we go I will let him run a bit before we enter the museum!  I would bring your own lunch and maybe even eat before you go inside depending on what time you get there.  The food prices aren't awful but when they know there is something they'd rather be doing they don't eat well and I'd rather not waste money on their food so I just pack some sandwhiches, snacks, and drinks.  I would also start at the basement, both of my kids love that level and the level with the water.  Also for us the stroller was better left in the car because Oliver screamed at the thought of getting in it.
