now I know why i like female drs better than males

After the NST today (which baby slept through half of it which made it longer), had another internal today with one of the male drs in the practice i go to (my female one was unavailable) and that hurt like something fierce.  He was downright rough and since that have had aches, uterine tightening and one severe contraction.  At least one good thing came out of it (esp since I am still 2 cm and 70% for 5 freaking weeks now) - he was very optimistic that she would make an appearance on her own this weekend and I won't need my appt on mon (with the dr I hate by the way).  Otherwise, at monday's appt, her eviction notice will be made up and she'll be coming next week whether she likes it or not.

Re: now I know why i like female drs better than males

  • This sounds like it could be my post. I have an apt. today with a make dr. because my regular OB who I've seen for every appointment isn't available. I am not looking forward to it unless he can get my labor started. I am also scheduled to be induced on Monday. Good luck this weekend.

  • I have the exact opposite problem! I joined the practice because it had a female dr but it turned out that the male drs were nicer and more understanding when it came to my pregnancy appointments, maybe it's because they have kids themselves and the female dr doesn't?

  • My ob is male and I absolutely love him. He is super understanding and never really gave me a hard time about my weight gain. Also, his internals were no problem at all for me to handle but then again hes probably 5'6 and 130 soaking wet lol. Sorry that your internal hurt so bad and lots of labor dust for you.

  • Now... Im the opposite. During labor, the nurses are talking to me. For the record, I DONT CARE how their labors were, I DONT CARE what they did, I DONT WANT their opinions on pain meds. My male Dr thankfully will not and, well, CAN NOT regale me with his birth story, or his pain opinions, etc.

I could give two craps about any female medical professionals personal experiences. I only care about my own.

I LOVED my male Dr!! He was and is very gentle though, and is a superb Dr all around!
