Baby Shower in Albany, NY - Need Location Ideas

Hey Girls,

I am planning a shower for my Sister-in-Law in Albany for Labor Day weekend. She would like a 'low-key' event for couples, families, etc. Not just a ladies only shower. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd even be open to hear of parks you'd suggest with catering suggestions. Any ideas would help!! Thanks!!

  • My baby shower was held at Lombardo's in Albany.

My wedding shower was held at the Turf Tavern in Scotia.

DS's first birthday party was at Moscatiello's in Troy.

All 3 restaurants did a very nice job. Great food and ambiance.I can't really help you with parks or outside places since all 3 events above took place in the winter.

    Good luck!

  • Moscatiellos was where my friend's baby shower was this past spring. It was really good. Great food, nice ambience, great service. Easy to get to.

Century House in Latham. Had my wedding reception there but they also have smaller rooms. Amazing food and service, before and during the event!

Italian American Community Center on Washington Ave Extension in Albany.

    The Desmond in Colonie.

All the places the other ladies mentioned are really good. Also, you could check to see if the restaurant attached to Hotel Indigo in Colonie (across from the Desmond) has a private room. We had our rehearsal dinner there when it was under a previous owner. The room is a decent size and somewhat separate from the rest of the restaurant.
  • You got some great recs from PP. Most of the parks I know of in the area want a resident to rent the pavillions.

  • You could look into the Crossings. They have an indoor facility but also outdoor. Black Diamond Caterers are great for bbq theme and more casual food. Their speciality is working in parks, so they would know how to best assist you.

Also, depending upon the number of people, Albany Pump Station has a private room upstairs and DeJohn's on Lark street does too. I have been to parties at both, but i *think* they max out 25-30 ish people.

  • There are a lot of great suggestions...but I was recently at the Turf Tavern in Scotia for a banquet type meal and the food was sooooo bad.
