So while I was out and about, I ran into a friend who told me that a local grocery store was going out of business and everything was at least 60% off. I dared myself to go and DD was behaving, so we went. Luckily, I had a spare bottle with me!. Here's what we got (after an hour in line!):
5 large packs of diapers (size 2 and 3)
6- 100 boxes of drop-ins (for our bottles)
30 double packs of baby food (fruit)
2 large powder formula ($26.99 each!)
4 boxes of rice cereal
4 bottles (drop-ins)
4 sippy cups w/ handles
2-8 packs of portable snack bowels
1 bottle baby congestion medicine
Plus-
4 party bags of chocolate (for me!)
And some other personal items/toiletries/ibuprofren, etc.
Grand total???
$106.83
Can I get a woo hooooo? Granted, I'm BF/EP right now and may eventually supplement, so that's why I only bought 2 things of formula. I have a bunch of coupons at home, but didn't know I was going....otherwise, they would have been totally free!

Re: AW- grocery score- pip
That's amazing!! Half of that was just formula, so you got most of that for just about 50$!
Wish it was close to me, I would buy the store out. Was it just crazy in there???
It was a little crazy in there but my friend warned me that she was in line for an hour, so I expected it. And she said to stalk down a grocery cart from outside, which I thankfully did. I had just started DD at daycare that day, as a few hour drop off, and when I picked her up, I gave her a partial bottle as I was talking with her teachers, since we weren't going straight home (I was thinking just WalMart). She started to get fussy as there were only 2 people ahead of me (and I had already waited 45 minutes) and so I wasn't about to bail out- luckily I had brought in her bottle in my purse as a fluke! Plus, my friend told me her DH waited in line, while she'd check other aisles. But since it was jsut me and DD was in the cart, I really couldn't do that- so I'm sure I could have gotten more goodies, but I would have had some funny looks if I just left the baby in her cart while I finished shopping in the other aisles!
It was a Food Lion that I didn't even know was in my town and just that local one was closing. I had just bought diapers, etc from WalMart when I ran into my friend, so at least I could return the ones I just bought!
LO is only 6.5 weeks, so I don't even know what she'll need, but luckily my sister answered her phone and helped me pick some things out like rice, baby foods, non-perishables. The only thing with the formula (which rang in for $9.99 BTW!) was that some expired in August, 2011 and the two that I bought were the only ones that were spring of 2012- so that's why I only bought the two. DD hasn't had formula yet, but I would imagine that the Enfamil will be fine. Shoot, for $10, I'll make it work! LOL~
FWIW - You may be able to take the Enfamil to Walmart and switch it out for another brand or even get store credit as long as its unopened. I was planning on doing that with Diapers and the Formula I bought if I needed to switch it out for anything else.
You gotta STEAL btw!!
That is a steal!! I love a good deal. Good for you!
They rang in for $9.99 and receipt said regular price was $26.99! There were probably at least 50 left when I was there. I thought about buying some more and doing that, but my luck, I'd get busted! I would have made bank on it, though!
