Tuesday Q: Can your body get used to allergy meds?

I'm a zyrtec girl but for the past two days or so it's just not cutting it.  Can you become immune or get to where they're not effective anymore?

Totally a googleable question but I can't sort through it today.

    I know it happened to me with claritin, although my doctor acted like I was crazy when I told her. 
    TTC with MFI, PCOS, and endometriosis since February 2010

    I would assume your body could build a tolerance to most anything.

    (ungoogled, unprofessional, just play one on TV answer)

    Yep. I used to take Claritin and it no longer works for me. My allergist said it happens often.

    I don't have allergies, but my husband swears that his body gets used to the meds.  I know of someone who rotates allergy meds every few months because of this problem.

    I'm not sure about that med, but I do know that this year has been an exceptionally bad year for allergies in a lot of areas and a lot of people are finding that their normal meds are not working.

    That could be it too. Rain + freshly cut grass is never a good combination.
