I am very creative. Not only artistic-creative (which I am very), but in my teaching. Here's an example: I am going to be teaching a memoir of a boy soldier. As he was being rehabbed, the nurse earned his trust by buying him a walkman with rap tapes (he liked rap music before the war). I looked up the songs he mentions and designed an activity about connecting the lyrics to his experience. I also found a cool article explaining the use of rap music as therapy with at-risk youths, and there are some videos on rap therapy with famous rappers to accompany it. It will make a great couple days' worth of lesson plans connecting with the text and taking away a greater understanding of the psychological recovery of the boy soldier.

I am also very well-read on many topics.

Great post Heather. I definitely don't think about my good characteristics at all. DH tries to pound it into my head every now and again, but usuallly it doesn't work .

I am a thinker-- I definitely come up with some out-of-the-box solutions and thoughts. I'm never content to just do something, I have to do it better or more creatively. I'm never satisfied with "let's just do it the same way we've always done it."

I'm also caring to the point of fault occasionally. I love to help people.

In all seriousness though, I can read and retain information really well. I can burn through 2-3 entire books in one night and be able to tell others all about them. I'm really good with numbers - I can remember birthdays, license plates, phone numbers, even credit card numbers and I can do relatively complicated calculations in my head without paper or a calculator.

Most of my friends say I'm really funny. I would love to do stand up comedy as a hobby, but lets be honest here - most female comedians just aren't that funny. (Or maybe I think that because I'm a woman hater.)
