So, tomorrow is the last day of school. This year I drove a bus so we came home during the mid-day. I constantly run out of stuff to keep Sully occupied. So ladies, I need ideas! Other than tummy-time and going out somewhere, what do you do to entertain your LO? Tickle time is only amusing for so long apparently, and he will only sit still for ONE book... HELP!
Re: What do you DO?
Oh, you poor thing.
Kidding.. I wish I had this problem!! I would be a SAHM (even just for the summer) if I could!
But.. the few times I've spent the day home with DS, I took him for a ride in the stroller, alternated between tummy time and playtime on the play mat, used the bumbo and exersaucer to let him practice sitting and standing.. etc.
Also, when I'm home and he can nap in his crib, he typically takes better & longer naps. So that's always nice.
Yeah...pretty much this verbatim.
I'm on summer break too (/unemployment as a laid off teacher) and we have lots to do.
We were given a bunch of second hand stuff and I was gifted other stuff so we have: a swing, a "travel" swing, exersaucer, bouncer, bumbo, RnP, activity gym, high chair, carrier, blankets, a kiddie pool, her crib,
our bed, the couch, my arms.
We have 2 mobiles, finger puppets, books, toys,
her thumb, funny faces, walks around the house, adventures to target (and elsewhere), laundry, dishes, cooking, cleaning, showering, nursing, talking, singing, watching the cat.
Remember that everything is new to them and it's easy to be entertained.
Here is a good resource -- https://www.babycenter.com/0_lets-play-weekly-activities-for-your-babys-first-year_1501475.bc
I was also given this book -- https://www.amazon.com/Gymboree-Play-Learn-Activities-Child/dp/1554700337 but it is not worth $140 obviously I hope, but I'm pretty sure it's the same as this $11 one -- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1616281510/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=1554700337&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0F75CBRDRGN92F4MN8F4
Ditto all of the above, plus I signed up on the website www.productiveparenting.com that sends you an activity idea every day based on your LO's age. Some of them are fun and really easy - like walking around the house turning everything off and on that you can think of and showing that to LO - I never would have thought of that! Also, DS loves being carried facing outward in the baby bjorn so I'll put him in that and walk around stores (too hot to walk outside here unfortunately...) but he loves looking at things and flirting with everyone.
Tyler LOVES the show called The Backyardagains. If it is on and he is in his exersaucer and a song comes on he starts jumping like CRAZY! It is hilarious. An episode is about 30 min so I put that on and it gives me a chance to clean the kitchen or do some laundry.
