So...Alex is in his room chattering to himself before his nap. He's saying things like, "I'm sleeping grandma," "okay grandma," etc. I went in to try to "reset him" so he'd fall asleep (he did, by the way) and asked who he was talking to. He said, "Grandma" -- I asked, "Grammy V?" (my MIL) - he said, "No, not Grammy -- GRANDMA." I gave him a confused look and he clarified, "Grandma Baba." - My mother's name was Barbara. She's been dead for 8 years. Alex has never heard me refer to her before. I'm oddly not freaked out.
Re: Alex meets Grandma Baba?? Creepy.
This happens, a lot in my life to me. Deceased family members, and even the man who once lived in this house has come to me before, and my best friend who passed on.
As far as I could remember I've had this gift.
No one believed me, and I stopped talking about it for years and years because I didn't want people to think I was a weirdo. My parents took it seriously later in life, when I wouldn't hide it anymore. Now they are comforted by these visits, because I make sure to call my parents (if/when its their dad - my grandfather(s)). I also tell my parents what I talked about.
Sometimes its a familiar smell, sometimes its a conversation...sometimes its just a visit.
Take comfort in these visits. Seriously. Ask your child what they said, maybe its a message to you or your family.
IMHO if there isn't any harm, then don't worry about these "visits." Some say children are so innocent they could see people who have passed, and others continue the gift later in life.
JMHO.
I definitely believe some people have this gift. My grandma and mom both passed before I got married/had kids and this may sound bizarre, but I'm still kind of anticipating one or both of them to visit the boys. It won't surprise me at all if my sons tells me one day they talked to my mom or grandma!
I totally have something like this as well. I have talked to the ghost of my dad several times in dreams and at my mom's house. My mom says I used to talk to angels in my bedroom. I haven't had any experiences since college though. I hope that if I get to be real quite my Dad will talk to me again.
That is really cool. Today would have been my Nonna (grandma's) 95th birthday. I was thinking how bummed she never got to meet my DS or DH. I hope she visits us.
