Mass Health for the baby... but not me?

Hi Everyone,

Just curious. Im still covered under my parents insurance until I am 26. However my baby will not be. Does anyone know if I need to apply for Mass Health for the baby now...or do I wait till after its born? I know the application requires a SSN which of course the baby doesnt have yet. Any information would be great. Thanks

You should still apply for Masshealth as a pregnant woman even if you have coverage as this will be the only way you can get coverage for your child. After the baby is born, it will be added on for coverage. If you have any questions, you should call Masshealth at 800.841.2900. You can also talk to the social worker at the hospital you are delivering at-- I don't have experience with OB/ peds to know for sure how the details work.
