I really enjoyed Raising an Emotionally Intelligent Child. It's not specific to toddlers, in fact much of it applies to older kids, but I'm totally on board with the ideas they put forth. Also, check out the Parenting with Love and Logic books. I know they do have one specific to toddlers.
ETA: Also, not at all a parenting book, but Hungry Monkey is great. It's by a former Seattle Times food writer and it's about his experience trying to make a foodie out of his four year old. It's an easy, funny read and it has great recipes at the end of every chapter. Just in case you're looking for more to read.
I'm not a parent of a 1-2 year old yet, but I really enjoyed "How to talk so your children will listen, and Listen so your children will talk." Also am halfway through Positive Discipline, which I like better than the Love and Logic series.

I've heard these recommended before - I'll have to check them out.
The Your One Year Old and Your Two Year Old books by Ames are great. I got them from the library. Also enjoyed Happiest Toddler on the Block and Hungry Monkey was hilarious.
