Anyone's LO watch the Fresh Beat Band?
DD LOVES the Fresh Beat Band, and a new actress is going to be playing Marina on the new episodes (starting today). At first DD saw the comercials and told DH and I that Marina looks different. We've been saying that she probably had a haircut. This morning she told DH that she really really looks different and asked what happened to her. DH just kind of distracted her and later asked me how we should handle this.
She's very observant, but she is only 3. I'm all for honesty, but can we really tell a 3 year old that the actress playing Marina did not renew her contract and someone else is now playing Marina? How much should we really be telling her? Anyone have any tips on how to handle this? If your little one watches the show what are you telling them?
I'm so annoyed with Nickeloden. For a channel that focuses on child education and development, I'm really surprised they would do this. Even when Steve left on Blues Clues, he introduced his cousin Joe. If they didn't at least do that, I'd expect something on their website about how to talk with your kids about the change. Major fail for Nickelodeon in my opinion!!

they failed us when they bumped FBB from the dinnertime slot. Making dinner has not been the same since. lol. (yes, we have DVR, but....)
I'll see if Ava notices. I'm sure she will, but not sure what she'll say. It's on in an hour here, stay tuned ;-)
I might just keep it simple and say "that's the NEW Marina, it's another lady now." lol.
I was wondering when Marina would jump ship....just a matter of time.
We don't watch it much (ever-- it's not on at dinner time now??) anymore now that it is nice out and I think I was actually more into it than she was so I doubt she would notice but you raise a good question because I think G would notice that if she was an avid watcher. They should have changed the character.

so before the show even starts, she sees the prelude thing and announces "That's the new Friday Marina! She changed her clothes!"
And FWIW, I don't think The New Friday Marina really plays the drums. Boo. lol. Save us, Kiki. Save us!
Nope - it's not. They even moved Dora and Diego to a later time slot which I noticed last night. Tristan loves Diego but now it's not coming on until 9:30... wtf?
Anyway -- maybe you can go with the whole cousin thing too... cousins with the same name? IDK.
I hate all the time changes too. For like 2 weeks it was Bubble Guppies and then Umi Zoomi and then bed time. Now it's Olivia and the Wonder Pets. I hate the Wonder Pets with a Passion. I've started taking a 5 minute power nap every night while WP is on.
My son is obsessed with the Fresh Beat Band. It used to be on when he was getting dressed in the morning and it was perfect timing. I don't even think we're home in time to watch it now so I probably won't have to deal with the new Marina for a while. I didn't even know she left! If he does see it, I will just say that Marina had to leave so they brought in a new girl who just happened to also be named Marina.
Did they replace the little girl Marina too? The one that dances during the song at the end? Then I'll have to explain 2 replacements. My son notices everything!
