Work shower WWYD?

My co-workers are throwing a shower for me tomorrow and they want me to bring my son with me. He is a little over 6 weeks old. At three weeks we spent Memorial Day weekend in the hospital because of a high fever. Pedi says no strangers holding him, kissing on him, touching him, etc., until 8 weeks.

Originally I had planned to go without him and leave him with my mom. She watches my nephew on Fridays though, and he's almost 2 so it would be a handful to watch both of them, even if it is just for a couple hours. Now I'm thinking of bringing him with me, but leaving him in the carseat and letting them look but no touch. My coworker said the shower wouldn't last too terribly long, but we all know how those kinds of events go.

Should I bring him with me?

I think it'll be really hard for your co-workers to agree to a "look but don't touch" policy, especially at a shower.  I wouldn't take him - just easier.

  • I took DD to DHs office for a meet and great.  DH held her and no one even tried to reach out and touch her.  Maybe you should do the car seat thing or even wear him in a sling/carrier.  Most people will have common courtesy to ask, the others you will have to dodge and side eye. Have fun!

  • A sling/carrier is a great idea. We did this the first two times we went to church. It really cut down on the touching of LO
