  My DD1 will be 5 in August and she has a 16 inch. She does really well on it, but definitely has room to grow. She's slightly above average height for her age (she's just about 42 inches).

  DS1 got a 16-inch for his 5th birthday in March. Fits him perfectly. He was 42 inches at his 5-year exam, so maybe a teeny bit taller now.
