For my inlaws: we're all going on an Alaskan cruise the end of July / beginning of August. On the second night my DH and I will ask our waiter (before everyone shows for dinner) and ask them to write on my MIL's dessert plate "it's a ___" in chocolate.
I have my appointment tomorrow at 8:15!!!! Im so excited. I pitched an idea to DH... I want the ultasound tech to write down what the sex of the baby is on the picture and put it in an envelope. Then we will wait til Sunday, my birthday to open it. Go out for a nice dinner, and open up my little surprise. Im just super excited to see our baby tomorrow, the last time I have an ultrasound it was a little peanut.
I dont think I'll be able to sleeeep. AHHHH Im so excited
With DS we called immediate family first, then sent out an email to extended family and friends, followed by a Facebook announcement. We will probably just do the same with this one.

For our first we had the u/s tech write it down in an envelope and we opened it at dinner with all of DH's family there. We actually had everyone go around and guess what they thought it was first and then we opened it up. Nothing cutesy but a fun idea to involve the family.
This time I am hoping we can go team green. I want that surprise in the delivery room!
With DD we revealed it at the baby shower (which I had when I was 7 months pregnant because it was in Cali and I live in VA). We had a Team Pink/Team Blue themed shower. We had each guest pick a button with team Pink Or Blue on it when they entered (which served as their prediction). After we opened the presents, we revealed the sex in the cake (the batter was dyed Pink). Everyone erupted in cheers--it was so great. They had all gotten so competitive with each other througout the party with their predictions it was so awesome to see that they were super excited.
This time we are just going to have the tech write it down and reveal it to each other at dinner (my appointment is the same day as my DH and my anniversary).
I want to send MIL and my mom/dad blue or pink flowers to their home. But that might get expensive. I might just mail them something or get their friends involved. We live 4 hours away so I really want to make it special. We're AW's anyway.
We are planning on revealing to everyone, us included, at our co-ed, all family and friends included bbq in celebration of the baby.
I wanted to be Team Green, but DH isn't having it, so we compromised that way. We'll still have to wait for a few months (u/s in July, bbq probably in Sept or Oct), but we will be finding out before delivery.
My current favorite idea of a reveal is to take onesies/baby jerseys of DH and I's respective favorite football teams to the u/s and have the tech put the correct one in a package to unwrap. DH is thinking boy and is a Saints fan. I'm thinking girl, I'm a Colts fan. We'll both wear our team's jerseys too .
With DS we just texted or emailed. This time, my in-laws are going to be in town when we have our a/s so I think we are going to have the tech write the gender down & put it in an envelope. When we get home, we will open it with the in-laws so they can really be involved.

We are going to have a gender reveal party and ask our guests to wear pink if they think it's a girl and blue if they think it's a boy. We will all find out when we cut the cake and see if the icing inside is pink or blue.
Re: Gender revealing. What did/are you do/doing?
I did a post about this the other day (not asking what others were doing but sharing what I will be doing). I'll share again since I'm super excited!

We're going to call and say "It's a girl/boy! S/he weighs x amount, was born at this time, and this is his/her name!" We're team green.
It's possible that this is sleepiness talking, but this cracked me up! "Normal words." HAHA!

Strangely enough, that was my plan exactly!
