Success after IF

SAIF Disney World Experts

We're taking DD for Christmas (I know, crazy busy time of year, but it's already done)...so where do I book Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dinner?  We're doing character breakfasts and dinners on other days so this is purely a best place to eat question.  We're staying at the Wilderness Lodge and will definitely eat there in the restaurant one night and are completely open to any resort...

Thanks!

  • So you want a fancy dinner right?

Artist point at Wilderness Lodge is awesome.  Citricos at GF (a boat ride away) is great too.. and my fave is Calif grill at the Contempoary.

All really easy for you to get to!

  • I worked for WDW for 5 years.  IMHO you will want to do this for Christmas Eve: Candlelight Processional : https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/parks/epcot/special-events/candlelight-processional/  Sorry can not make it clicky.  This gives you more information as you will need to pick a restaurant. https://www.wdwinfo.com/holidays/candlelight_processional.htm I can't really say which one I would pick, but really you can't go wrong.  I would google a few of those and see which one is to your liking.  I would call the first day they go on sale, which is sometime in July.  If you call now they probably can tell you the day and you will want to make reservations first thing.  I would also get to your restaurant early as there are some seats better than others.  I would figure out or ask which one is the best one to be at so that you can also see Illuminations fireworks from dinner.  I think that would be the late one.  Not sure how the children will be so keep that in mind.

For Christmas Day I would enjoy a nice meal at Artist Point right at the WL.  That way you can chill and enjoy the night after what will likely be a busy day and then just crash after.  They will have carolers and special surprises.

    Jealous!

Oh, I would head to the Grand Floridian during your stay; it is very nicely decorated and I really enjoyed it there.  You could even park there and then take the monorail to the Magic Kingdom so that you don't have to do the tram.  Much more enjoyable.  Just say you are eating at the GF.  Maybe that is where one of your Character breakfasts is.

Oh, do get to the park early.  They will probably close due to occupancy so figure out where you want to spend most of your day.  Nothing like thinking you are going to 'hop over' to another theme park only to find out they can't take any more for the day and you have to figure out another plan.  Usually park guests get early admission so you will want to do that.  But do find a way to get back for a nap and just enjoy the pools as well.

    Have fun!!

Thank you!  The candlelight things looks fabulous and right up my parents' alley (did I mention they are coming too -- oh gosh...).   Can I ask if you have any thoughts about the Fanstasmic dinner package at the Studios for some other night?  We're there for 7 nights.  Thanks!

  • The other girls offered up great ideas, I just wanted to add that allears.net is a great place to check out. They post menus for the restaurants as well as lots of other useful stuff. Also search for or ask questions on the Disney world moms panel.
  • Don't know much about the Fantasmic one, but looks neato!  I think it is great that your parents are going!  They can spoil DD!!  And take advantage and let them babysit while you and DH go chill downstairs at the bar for an hour.

I will say try to incorporate some chill time.  It will be crazy busy and not much fun if you have this huge agenda and DD melts down in the middle of it all.  Try to find a way to get back for a nap.  Have some low key nights.  There is soooo much, really try to enjoy the moments and not get caught up in having to do everything.

I am so jealous.  I always said I would wait until my child was 5 to go, but now even with her being 1, I'm like...there is no way we are waiting that long!!

  • I'm just here to say:

    1) I'm jealous!

    2) I friended you on FB but couldn't send a message there saying who I was, so it's me! Stick out tongue

  • Thanks ladies!  We elected to reserve at Artist Point for Christmas dinner, I like the idea of being at home base and I got a Cinderella's table breakfast for the second full day we are there (the 23rd).  I filled in some other reservations here and there, Chef Mickey's breakfast on Christmas Day and the Akershus Princesses on another day but we can cancel those as we decide what we really want to do.  My parents don't have park hoppers and plan to go with us to one park a day and then take DD and go rest at the camp site (they are at Fort Wilderness) and me and DH can play, or rest too...I foresee some time in the/a spa.

Now I'm really excited...but tired!  *yawn*

  • We usually go late Jan (not this year though because I'll be 8 months pregnant, if this baby is sticky).  We are thinking about going early December to do Mickey's Christmas party but I have to see.

It sounds like so much fun, it would be awesome to go during Christmas one year. Have a blast

  • So exciting! I have no recs for fancy....but we just got home from 5 days in Disney. It was so much fun and pretty easy with a toddler! I can not wait to go back! I just might have to talk to dh about Christmas in Disney, maybe 2012!
