Thank you card etiquette question

I am writing thank you cards following my daughter's birthday party and I've come across a strange situation. The list I have for who gave what gift doesn't list one of the families that came. That's no big deal if they didn't give a gift but I'm honestly not sure if they did or didn't. I haven't found a card or gift. I don't think we would have lost the card and/or gift but anything is possible. I'd like to send a thank you card but if they didn't bring a gift I don't want to put a general thanks for the gift and them think I am being rude BUT if they did bring a gift I would like to thank them for that exact gift. What do I do?

Re: Thank you card etiquette question

  • I would just say something generic like, "Thank you so much for bring part of LO's special day."

  • I agree with pp.  Maybe add something about how much fun dd had doing something specific with them to make it more personal.

This and something like, "Your presence was greatly appreciated!  We look forward to seeing you again soon."

    ITA.  Perfect generic sentiment.
