Go work where I work! Last night was my first night back and it was off the chain, I had 4 rooms and at one point I had a chemo patient with a white count of 0.8, an alcoholic with a potassium of 1.9, a stroke patient, and a guy with a small bowel obstruction. Geezuuuusssss. It was 5 AM before I sat down to chart/eat and I only had enough time to eat a stinking cheesestick before we had to go out for a security alert in the lobby. I literally worked my as$ off.

    And this is why I am not excited to go back to work. My brain has truely enjoyed not having to strategize my patient care! I am dreading my first night back.

    I had my work baby shower last week and my cooworkers were talking about this patient had this, and this doctor did that...I seriously felt nauseated. I am thankful that I have a whole year before I have to deal with all that again, but I am afraid I will forget how to organize my day/loose my skills in that time.

    I've been out for 5 months due to bedrest - and I must say our hospital COMPLETELY changed their computer system, charting, med system and everything while I was gone.  I had a 2 day class in January :(  I asked my boss to put me on a few well staffed days so that I can ease into it... sooo not looking forward to going back.  I go back July 1st.

    I was only gone 6 weeks and I was soo rusty, it doesn't help that I'm a new nurse either since my skills are still developing to begin with. The upside though is that after 12 hours there it makes coming home so much sweeter!

    What system?  I work in healthcare IT.

    Duuuuude.  I don't envy your skinny butt!

     

    Although I must say, keeping up with the schedules of 4 kids is keeping me pretty busy, too.

    I'm excited to lose more weight running my butt off but not excited about  crazy busy 12 hour shifts! It will be nice to not have to hold my big ol' belly while running down the hall to a code. I go back in a few weeks after being off for 12 weeks and since I've been gone we have had 6 kids on ECMO. Hopefully it won't last! I love taking care of my HEALTHY baby and not ready to take care of the sick ones back at work!!!
