TTC After a Loss 6 Months+

New here - looking for advice

Hi there Ladies, I'm new to this board... again unfortunately. I am hoping for some advice/answers from any of you girls, regarding my current ttc situation.

Background: DH and I lost our first baby at 20 weeks to Anencephaly. We went on to have a healthy baby boy a year later and decided to TTC after his 1st birthday. I stopped taking the pill Oct of 2010 and got pregnant right away, only to start bleeding 6 days later. We kept trying and got pregnant again a few months later only to start bleeding about 4 days later.

I went and saw my dr (who is also a geneticist) and asked if something was wrong and he pretty much said I need to stop stressing so much and let nature take it's course. This kinda pissed me off but I considered that maybe he was right. Maybe the stress of getting pregnant was the reason I wasn't having any luck.

So I "kinda" tried to not stress about it (being very aware of my O days still) and this past month FWP on the "good days" - well I was supposed to see AF on Saturday and haven't... until this morning. I promised DH and my dr that I wouldn't test until I was at least a week late so I didn't, but my period is NEVER 5 days late. So I'm thinking that had I tested I would have seen a + and it seems another chemical pregnancy.

What the heck is going on with me? I made an appt for next Wednesday to have a reg exam and talk about what's happening but I wanted to know from any of you ladies, Have you had any multiple chemical pregnancy experiences? I don't know what to expect at this point.

Thanks for any help!

  • Zip it!

    Why phish for a m/c?

If you did not test and did not have a + then it wasn't a c/p and yes, your body does change over time and can do things later than you expect- like O.  And that is *normal*.

  • Even people who are *always* regular can have a cycle or two that's off base. There is a better chance of you Oing later that you thought than having another c/p. You might want to try charting and OPKs for a bit, that way you can really get a sense on how your cycle is. Fertility friend has a good tutorial, and the ladies of TTCAL can help you on that. There are a lot of ladies over there who are learning to chart for the first time.

  • If I was you I would probably start testing once my period was a day or two late. I don't feel like it's inviting disappointment, I feel like it's getting a clearer picture. I am not pleased with your doctor's response to your concerns. I would request both a different doctor and a RPL panel. Sometimes when they know what's wrong there are things that you can do to prevent recurrent miscarriages. Sometimes there is not. Still, if it were me I'd rather know than just be wondering. Statistically, even if there's nothing you can do to prevent RPL, most women who suffer from that will go on to carry one or more baby to term. Some women choose to play the odds and keep trying. Some women are too emotionally devestated by miscarriage after miscarriage to keep trying. It's a very personal decision, but one need to have the facts for before you can decide.

I'm sorry that you're going through this.
