I stopped the pill after 10 years on April 4th 2011. I still have not had my period. I took 2 pregnancy tests and they were both negative. Is there anything I should be worried about? Any advice? I called my doctor and im waiting to hear back from her to see what she says.
Thanks,
Re: Stopped the Pill.. Questions..
Look up www.creightonmodel.com and www.naprotechnology.com and find a practitioner in your area.
This is one of the best methods to use post-pill. It's normal not to get your cycle back right away, it could be months or even a year since you were on it for 10 years. No worries, just wait and see what the doc says. Good luck!
Calling your doctor since you are over 60 days without a period, would be my advice so you are one step ahead!!
I can tell you that about 5 or so years ago when I was switching from the patch back tot he pill, I went 3 months without a period. I called my doctor and she diagnosed me with amenorrhea, which is just the lack of a period. She put me on a 10 day thing of progesterone, or some form of it, to kick star my period. It can happen when you stop birth control. Your body is trying to regulate.
It's fairly common to have irregular cycles after coming off OCPs. However, since its been more than 60 days and you have not had a period I'd go see your doc. They'll likely do some blood tests and may prescribe you some provera to "jump start" a period.
hope that helps.
Interesting. I don't remember them drawing my blood when I had this issue. I remember peeing in a cup and they did a pregnancy test... but I don't remember them drawing my blood. And I would think I would remember that since I usually pass out, even with a tiny vial.
Good luck though! I hate having my blood drawn as well considering the whole passing out thing!
I'm the same way about blood tests! The hormone profile can only be done through the blood tests though- I've had them done soooo many times (lots of frustrated nurses, i pass out every time.)
I hope it goes well for you! Good luck!
Good luck! I stopped the pill 30 days ago and no period. I thought it was weird when I was 5 days late, so I called my OB/GYN, who said it was normal and to call back when it is 60 days late.
I know people who've waited 10+ months for their periods to come back post-pill. Glad you're going in for the jumpstart
