WWYD re: glider?

Rosie's glider is still in her room, and we use it.  Not a ton, but a lot of times at bedtime she likes to be rocked for a little while, and if she hurts herself or is upset, she'll ask to be rocked.  We were planning on moving it into the baby's room, but I'm wondering whether we should just buy another one for the baby.

Rosie's chair is nice, but it doesn't have padded armrests so it wasn't really the most comfortable glider for feeding a baby.  I would probably just get a cheaper one for the baby, nothing too fancy.  WWYD?

  • We had the same dilemma and ended up just leaving the glider in Reed's room.  I never nursed in the glider and would always just grab Pierce and sit up in bed with my nursing pillow to feed him during the night.  As he got older I often wished we had a chair in his room since he would wake up crying and want to be held and I had nowhere to sit!  We got him a pottery barn anywhere chair for his 1st birthday and I always sit in it during the night to hold him...haha I hope I don't ruin the chair.  He is definitely not a baby that ever liked to be rocked or snuggled too much (way different than Reed) so ultimately I am ok that we didn't buy another chair.  His room was sort of small for one anyways so the PBK chair fits and does the job for the little bit that I use it.  He likes to sit/climb on in his chair for us to read to him at night whereas Reed still likes to sit in the glider and be read to!

  • I would get a new one. Maybe one that could match living room furniture, that way you could put it in there when you were done using it for the new baby. Padded arms were a must when I was glider shopping! R still likes to be rocked when we read books at night, so he still has his too.

There is something so soothing about rocking, I bet you could get a lot of use out of a nice comfy one! We got ours with matching ottoman at Charlotte furniture. It was pretty reasonable!

Ditto this!  It's definitely worth getting another one that's more comfortable.  You know you'll get a ton of use out of it!!

  • We moved ours to the baby's room. I do nurse in the glider at night and I was happy to have the space in Eves room (plus it didn't match her new furniture). Eve really doesn't need it.. Now that she's in a big girl bed if she is upset in the night its more effective for us to lay in bed with her than take her out of bed and rock her anyway.
