Success after IF

Just wanted to make sure you saw my response to your cord blood question.  Here it is again so you don't have to dig through my other post - plus some more information I forgot to add!

Potential cord blood donations are included in that 60.  One cord blood unit was "activated" today (along with 5 other potential donors) for more detailed testing.  I was told we will do additional testing in batches, and that the 60 have been prioritized so that the best of those 60 will be activated for more testing first.  I have no clue if this is normal or not but it's how TCH does it.

However, our BMT doctor has warned us that she would prefer to see an adult donor as she (and the rest of the BMT team) believes mature, adult cells will be the best option for Kate's specific case.

So, yes, we are looking at into cord blood as well!

Yup, saw it :)  I know it's still not as abundant or well tested a source as bone marrow, but when I saw the low match number it's where my mind first went.  Hopefully it won't come to that and you will find a great adult match. I know you are in *amazing* hands in TX but if you ever want a phone consult or anything here in Seattle, I'd be happy to see if I could help at all.

(Not that travel is at all appealing - my GI doc mentioned some trials that might be suitable for me at Mayo and the thought of leaving my family and home for chemo was NOT something I was up for.  Thankfully my experience so far at SCCA has been absolutely superb.)

Thank you for the offer.  And, I feel the exact same way about traveling for treatment!  But, if we get to the point where we feel that we need to talk with someone else, I will not hesitate to reach out!
