Hi Ladies again!!
Since I got a fantastic response to what did you little one sleep in when they got home......
What stroller did you get? Did you have more than one for different purposes? We are starting to seriously look at them now... time is ticking away faster so need to get organised!!
I think I want to do baby bootcamp as soon as the little one and I are allowed to... (will I have the energy!?!?!) so I guess ideally I need something that is useable for jogging. Im thinking maybe of a BOB but not sure. If you have something like a BOB did you get something else for every day type use as well? We havent picked a car seat either yet, Im guessing that will partly depend on what stroller we get!
DH is also thinking maybe of eventually getting a bike chariot, which apparently could be used as a jogging stroller too... has anyone had any experience with them? If they would be a lot harder to use as a jogging stroller I probably wouldnt use it as Im a slow jogger to begin with and I dont want to be miles behind the back of the class!!
We're going to look at some this weekend hopefully.... thinking of trying Baby 1st, REI (has the BOB), Right Start.... are there any other places you would look?
TIA for any help and suggestions Any comment is appreciated!!
Re: Another what did you get post - strollers :)
We got the Snap and Go for the infant carrier - which I would highly recommend for errands, and such, so you don't have to wake the baby to get them out. I think we got the BabyTrend one over the Graco one b/c it had the adjustable handlebars, and DH and I are about 10 inches height difference, so it was nice to be able to adjust to our height - but ultimatley, I think they are the same. I would not recommend it for running, though - I think the wheels are plastic, so not much cushion.
We also have the Maclaren Quest stroller for when he got older and we had to take him out of the convertible car seat. I like it - it's easy to collapse (I can do it with one hand), and it's good for normal errands. I don't think it would be good for jogging, though.
Those were the only two we had for awhile, as I knew I wasn't going to be jogging with the baby. I know a lot of ladies will have good recs for you on those types. I have heard Bob is a good choice.
Later, DH begged to have a bike trailer. We ended up getting a Croozer. It converts to a jogger, as well (though, I have only walked with it - not jogged. I assume it would work fine?) Also, we went ahead and got a double trailer, since we assumed we would have at least 1 more child, and that was something they could both enjoy - and then I didn't have to buy another double one later. DH got it at Sun and Ski Sports, I think - so you can check them out in person there.
GL!
I had the SNG. We have moved on to a McClaren umbrella stroller.
I did not get the BOB. We ended up with the Schwinn. It was much cheaper. I've borrowed my SIL's BOB and to be honest I can't tell much of a difference. The Schwinn was Consumer Reports highest ranked jogging stroller. They actually ranked the BOB pretty low(something like 48 points out of 100).
My only complaint on the Schwinn is it doesn't have anything to keep it *closed* when I need to transport it.
We only had one stroller (Bugaboo Frog) that we used from birth to current. We never used an infant car seat or a carrier that would need to connect to anything. We used the pram-style stroller seat until she was ~4 months and then switched to the regular seat after that.
We added a cheapo umbrella stroller a couple months ago so we'd have something to send with grandma.
We had the Phil & Ted's Sport (with the car seat attachment) until Marion was 1.5 years old. We got a Chicco Liteway when she was that age because we were going to New Orleans and knew the P&T was just going to be too big for the French Quarter.
When we had Eliza, we borrowed a friend's Snap n Go and it's been a lifesaver. We made it just fine not having one for Marion but in retrospect, it would have been nice to have had it.

So Tasty, So Yummy
Baby Hauling
First Kid:
Snap and Go - this worked very well - infancy and babyhood
Stroller with pneumatic tires - great for our uneven sidewalks - all ages (would prob. get the BOB next time)
Maclaren - umbrella stroller - bought for travel (now my favorite for our stroller needs)
Kid 2: (Because we changed and had more people)
Snap and Go - still super convenient; a must
Maclaren - now we use this stroller almost exclusively now that they both walk; one will be tired, the other not; they trade off
Other Kid Hauler:
Baby-wearing - easier to do this with two kids
Child Carrier (backpack) - both kids (4 & 1) fit in this and are easy enough to carry on our backs; we like this to manage them for certain activities, such as visiting museums, trails, etc.

Start with the basics. You can get more as you go.
I'm going to look like a stroller hoarder....
#1 we got the Chicco Trevi (to use with the carrier instead of the travel system) and really liked it. We also got a BOB single for DH to use because he is a big runner.... However, I pg with #2 very quickly so I needed a stroller for 2 kids... For a short period of time I used the Trevi when I was out with just one kid. We got a BOB Dulie for DH to run with both and a double umbrella stroller for the car. I wanted something small. I bought a Mclaren off to CL and really liked it. Now that the kids are bigger we have a Joovie Caboose and I love it. So much easier than the double umbrella, but it wouldn't have worked earlier because Luca wasn't ready to ride in the back until about 3 year old. We also have 2 Chicco umbrella strollers. One for each car (when we only have 1 kid) and for airports. We've found that 1 on 1 works best for us when we travel as a family and they fit in any rental car.
We also have a Chariot bike trailer (double). We used to have a Burley single....
Yes, we are stroller hoarders! (we did sell the double umbrella for what I paid for it, made 75% of our money back on the Trevi, and everything back on the Burly). If you're going to buy high end I highly suggest using CL.
We got a Snap N Go and a Baby Jogger City Mini. At the time, you couldn't buy the carseat attachment for the Baby Jogger, but now you can. If we'd had the option, i would have probably skipped the SNG.
I love love love my City Mini. It isn't for running, but I do use it walking (fast) and C is fine. We also just bought a Maclaren Volo (lower end model) from ebay. We're flying this week and I wanted a less expensive umbrella for the airport, etc. We got an older model for $60.
We got the Uppababy Vista and I love it! I used the basinette attachment for the first week or so rather than buying a sleeping basiette or pack & play. It also functions as a snap & go, our carseat just snaps right on it. Later, we can buy a second seat and it will be a double.
she's still too little for a jogging stroller (safety issues) but we'll be buying a BOB Revolution in about three months.
