Broccoli: Gross story & PIP (fixed)

Yesterday, I was harvesting my broccoli. It was all so fresh and green and wonderful looking. My mom told me there might be some little worm things in there, so I researched a little and found out they are "cabbage loopers", or basically moth caterpillars.

I read that you can coax them out with vinegar and water. So I let the broccoli soak. In a small bowl of broccoli, I found more than 20 of these suckers:

I was grossed out, but I expected it. They're really hard to see because they're the exact same color as the broccoli. I picked them all out (barf) and went ahead and steamed them.

When I took off the lid, sitting right on top, was ANOTHER ONE, all singed and dead. I could not stomach the thought that I might have missed more, so I threw away my entire beautiful harvest. I also dreamed about little green worms all night long and didn't sleep well.  

I doubt I'll be growing broccoli again, guys. :(

    I'm not going to look at the photo since I have broccoli in my garden that I'm still waiting to do something besides growing 4 foot leaves.

    Yeah I don't see a picture either but I know what they are!  We grew broccoli last year and had those same little buggers all over it.  it sucked!!!

    Okay guys, I fixed the PIP. Fabbate... parboil those suckers before you eat them!!! AAHHH!

    And that's why you shouldn't eat broccoli.  Just kidding, but seriously, gross!
    Me: PCOS   DH: No issues

    August '16-January '17: Clomid + HCG + IUI/TI = BFN
    February/March '17: Menopur + HCG + IUI = BFN
    April '17: Menopur + HCG + TI (due to too many mature follicles) = BFN
    May '17: Took off due to cysts
    June' 17: Menopur + HCG + IUI = Cancelled due to 8+ mature follicles
    November '17: Clomid + HCG + IUI= BFN
    December '17: Menopur + HCG + TI= BFP!!!! Due August 2018

    You guys, they live inside somehow. And also in between the little branches. You seriously cannot see them. Some are big and fat and some are really tiny. They have really sticky feet and it's hard to even PEEL THEM OFF.

    When I googled it, people were like, oh, it's no big deal, it's okay if you accidentally eat them. WTF. No it isn't.

    I am for once glad I can't see that pic at work.  When I was in elementary school (I am scarred by this) I had a fresh peach that I had picked from my friends house in my lunch.  I bit in to it only to find half a juicy worm.

    Ick! I would be scarred as well

    Ew. I grew lettuce last year and noticed some black spots on the leaves. I thought it was dirt and just washed it off. I found out later that it was bug poop. And despite my efforts to clean the lettuce, it was very hard to get off. I am not growing lettuce this year.

    I wish the bugs would leave the veggies alone. Then maybe more people would grow their own food.
