NBR: headache question

I've had a headache over my right eye that travels back to my right ear for about a week now.  If I take ibuprofen it dulls the ache.  Exedrin makes it go away, but it comes back when the meds wear off.  I've had migraines before and this isn't like those (no nausea or loss of vision).  It is really annoying the heck out of me now, but I don't know if it is "doctor appointment worthy."  So, wwyd?  Dr's or suck it up and see if it goes away in the next few days?

Re: NBR: headache question

  • I had something like this when I was pregnant the first time.  I thought it was just a never-ending headache but I did finally go to the doctor and it turns out I had an ear infection.  It was so strange because it felt more like a headache than anything.  I think since it's been a week, I would probably see the Dr.

  • Sounds like a migraine to me too.  Not all of mine are full-blown aura, nausea, the works migraines.  I get some that are mild and just hang on forever, so I have to take a migraine pill and they go away.
  • Is it a dull ache or a sharp pain? I used to get "cluster headaches" over my eye and they were killer. If it doesn't go away in the next day or so, call the doctor and they can bring you in for a shot. The last time I had a bad headache like that, it was like a vise around the back of my skull, and it lasted for over two weeks on and off and only went away once I got a shot. If I don't have caffeine in the mornings, it often comes back.

  • That sounds like some of my more severe migraines as well. I would definitely call a doctor.
