? about gliders

Is it necessary to have an upholstered glider?

I have a wooden rocking chair that was given to my mother before I was born and was used for both me and my lil brother.  I am planning on using it in our nursery and I have a gliding ottoman/foot stool to use with it.

What are your opinons on upholostered vs. wooden?

(I am planning on getting pads for the chair, the kind that tie on)

Re: ? about gliders

  • That is exactly what I have a wooden rocking chair with some tie on cushions. My mom and I are going to re-do the cushions so they are a little more supportive but I LOVE my chair and already sit in it many nights reading or talking to Roo. I don't think I would like it with out the cushions but with it is better than many gliders I tried. Plus mine has family history to it like yours does making it even more special.

  • A comfy chair is important.  I don't necessarily think a glider over a rocker is important, just something that you'll be comfortable nursing or sitting or even sleeping/dozing in.

DS actually prefers rocking to gliding (I think it's something about the up/down of rocking that you don't get while gliding).

I'd love a rocker with a family history to it and would take one over my new glider anytime; though I do love my glider.

  • It makes no difference. As long as you have something that is comfortable to you.
