Pregnant after 35

just so you guys know...I'm a bit psychic :)*UPDATED*

I'm heading to get an u/s right now and if LO cooperates we will know the gender.

But I don't need the u/s - I know it is a boy.  I just know.

Honestly, if they say, "girl" I will eat my shoe.

Anyone else just know?  Were you right?

Also, one last quick question - my very involved MIL does not want to know the sex of the baby (why?  well..."I never found out.  I don't see why it is so important."  mmm-hm).  I told her I wouldn't come out and tell her but if she figured it out on her own she wasn't allowed to be upset.  Let's face it - she's going to figure it out, right?  So, should I go through with my initial plan to send her a surprise (pink or blue) bouquet of flowers at work anyway?

******************************************************************

Yellow flowers for the MIL!  What a great idea.  Thanks!!

And also, I have no idea what my shoe tastes like.  He is boy, 100%.

Next question  -  what in the heck am I going to do with a boy!!!??!  I only have 2 sisters and a Mom - I have NO IDEA what to do with a BOY.

i would still send her flowers, but i'd make them yellow!  :)  what a nice gesture on your part.

If she doesn't want to find out, I would respect that as far as you can, considering she'll probably figure it out.  Yellow flowers, definitely.

  • I can't wait to hear if you were right!  As for the flowers I agree with the other pp I would either send yellow flowers or no flowers at all.  If she doesn't want to know I wouldn't push the issue it may upset her going against her wishes even though you want her to know.

So excited to hear how it went!

  • I would have eaten a shoe...I still think of this LO as a girl - I say "she" all the time and get corrected.  I will STILL be shocked when I see his "junk" in real life and not just on the ultrasound (we got bottom shots, side shots, erection shots...there's definately a penis in there...)

I'm glad your intuition was right (boys are great - harder when they're younger but as teens they're  breeze in comparison to girls...)

  • wow, you ARE psychic!!!  Congrats on your little boy!!  I think you'll figure out what to do with a boy just fine.  That's my biggest fear if this LO is a boy as well.  I've raised a girl.  I know what I'm doing there.  Boys kind of freak me out.  All that rough and tumble play.  lol  But I'm sure you'll be just fine. :)

  • I knew this one was a girl :) Sometimes you just know.  You'll know what to do with a boy when you get him. boys are so special with their mommy bonds :)

  • awww!  congrats on your little boy (and your psychic ability!)!!!!

i was terrified of having a boy and he was a very mellow baby and the sweetest little guy ever...definitely my biggest snuggler.  at 6, he is getting a bit sassy but it has been easily nipped in the bud.  in hindsight, i should have been more terrified of having a daughter.  lol  :)

  • yay!  congrats on your baby boy.  My sister and my nephew have such an awesome bond.  He's so loving and they go on hikes and nature walks together all the time.  She loves having a boy.

  • I pretty much knew we were having a little girl. I had a very vivid dream about 2 or so years ago that we had a little red-headed girl. Had an ultrasound at my 37 week yesterday and it's definitely a girl. Now, we'll just have to wait and see about the hair color.
  • This whole string of posts was just so cute to read! Congratulations on your boy!
  • Congrats on your boy! I was also VERY sure of my first two. This LO....really boggled us. I thought for sure she'd be a boy, but alas...a third girl! YIKES! So as you ponder what you will do with a boy...consider this...what will I do with THREE GIRLS?!!!! LOL!

I should send you my Mom's email.  I'm sure she would have some great stories for you.  Like the time my older sister cut off one of my pigtails - just one.  I was left with one nub of hair, and one long, flowy pigtail. Right before I started kindergarten.

Or another time my little sister locked herself in her room and wouldn't go to church because her socks didn't match her barrettes.

And then there were the constant fights about who actually owned the clothes that we were sharing.

I learned some good kung-fu skills, though, because 3 girls - doing their 80's hair in one bathroom - really, you had to learn to be a fighter. Or go to school with (gasp!) flat bangs.  I'm not afraid of anyone now.

But you know what? My sisters are my best friends today.  We have a bond and a love for one another that is very different than anything else in my life.  I wouldn't trade them for the world.  I think I would shrivel up and die without them.

  • Oh yay! A boy! Big Smile I'm having one too and I'm really excited about it.

I tried so hard to keep the references gender neutral before I found out for sure, but every time I found myself calling the baby 'he or him.'  No matter what I tried, it always came out 'he or him.'  Lol!  I forced myself to say 'she' one time and just said 'nope...won't work!'  I just knew it was a boy.

I'm like you though...what to do with a boy?!  Lol!  Apparently though other than the 'automatic sprinkler' they're pretty easy to handle.  I used to be a nanny for a baby boy, and he was great.  So don't worry too too much.  You'll figure it out. Smile
